WolfRobParticipantImagine THIS Andre Drummond out running with John Wall. Uconn didn’t truly showcase what this man is capable of. The kid can dunk everything, and he is strong!! Once in a lifetime athlete.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him Ball out w/ Kyrie either…

laarethekingsParticipantWhen does being a once in a lifetime athlete mean you can be a great basketball player? I know it helps, but that’s not all that comes with it.
Myself I can’t understand why teams would be willing to draft him before 8 or 9. When drummond came out it was him and davis. Davis took over collage b ball and won a ring. Drummond had maybe two great games and got his team knocked out in the first round.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantYea Drummond is an unreal athlete for his size. I think the Wiz will grab him or Thomas Robinson since Robinson is from there and had already stated that he wants to play there. If Drummond had played with a guy like Kendall Marshall, I believe no matter how great of a year Davis had, Drummond would have been the number one pick. He just needs to play with a point guard thats willing to give him the ball. Lamb and Napier were score first guards. I stated on another thread too that the Magic should try and go after Drummond if he is still on the board at 3. Do a three team trade with Brooklyn and Washington. Trade Dwight and Hedo for Brook Lopez and Marshon Brooks, then trade Lopez and Brooks for the 3rd pick and maybe Crawford and Blatche. The Wiz need a guard to play with Wall and they could move Nene to the four and help Lopez on the boards since he isn’t a good rebounder. Wall, Brooks, Lewis/Singleton, Nene and Lopez. That looks like a decent squad to me. Then the Magic can rebuild since it seems like they are about to blow up the team and use Drummond as a cornerstone

laarethekingsParticipantBro you just said trade the best C in the game and the second best player player in the NBA for a rookie in Drummond who couldn’t even take over a game in collage B Ball. Lol

laarethekingsParticipantWhen you lose Howard and end up with the 3rd pick I don’t care how many other teams get into the trade or what players change hands…. You lost Howard and got back the 3rd pick( Drummond ). It’s like saying I don’t have a dollar bill but I have ten dimes… You have 1 dollar!

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipant@laarethekings, big men need a point guard to dominate. Lamb and Napier were score first guards. I can’t think of one dominant big man that didn’t have a great guard play with them and won anything. That’s why Dwight trying to leave now. I know Chamberlain had Jerry West, Moses Malone had Mo Cheeks. Russell and Cousy…i could go on and on

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI didn’t say Trade Dwight for Drummond. I said Lopez for the 3rd pick. Dwight and Hedo would go to Brooklyn for Lopez and Brooks. Then the Magic could trade Lopez and Brooks for the 3rd pick. Read what I said again. Dwight doesn’t want to play for Orlando. Why not go after a young big man to possibly replace him in the future?

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantThe Magic need to rebuild if they lose Dwight. You don’t want to have a Lebron situation and lose him for nothing. They don’t have to trade Brook Lopez and Brooks if they don’t want to. Just if they really want too. Plus the Magic drafted Dwight over Okafor in ’04 off of potential. They didn’t see him produce in college. Okafor won the title that year so it’s not out of the possibility they would do the same thing again.

laarethekingsParticipantAlso is anyone else with me that if Drummond is to become a great NBA player the Wiz is the last team he should go in the top 5. Maybe the Kings as well.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI understand what you are saying. The Magic don’t want to lose Dwight but he is as good as gone. The Cavs lost Lebron and got back Kyrie in the draft. It’s too early to tell whether it will pay off in the long run but the Cavs seem like they are off to a good start to me. I just figured the Magic would want something that could potentially be worth it in the long run. Meyers Leonard maybe is the only other possible big man the Magic could get, but people aren’t as high on him as they are on Drummond. But I think him playing with a young point guard like a Wall or Irving could lead to a great duo in the future if he was to get drafted by the Wiz or the Cavs. Or him being a rebuilding piece with the Magic and possibly getting a top pick next year and the Magic could build with them. But I agree with you about him going to the Kings. If he goes there he will be a bust. Is Hasann Whiteside even still with them?

aj3upgradeParticipantwhat if the wiz trade UP to number 1??? i kno its not likely but a package built around nene and the 3rd pick maybe enough 2 convince the hornets 2 do it…the hornets are DESPERATE to win so the sure thing with nene and barnes/drummond/robinson at 3 isnt a bad way to start…add that with gordon and kaman (health) and cap space and you could be looking at a 5 6 seed…

WizardofOzParticipant^Not sure if serious? The Hornets aren’t trading #1 bro.
I’d probably be in favor of Drummond. He’s boom or bust, but has the most potential behind Davis in becoming a star, and the Wizards need another star.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Magic don’t trade Dwight on draft night then the best trades for him I can think of would be
straight up for Andrew Bynum, or to the Bulls for Noah, Taj Gibson, picks, and hopefully Luol Deng.
I think the Magic would come out pretty well I’d they traded Howard and Hedo to the Bulls for Noah, Deng,
Gibson, a pick, and filler. If not Deng, the Bulls could substitute on of their Euro’s, CJ Watson, and either Korver
or Ronnie Brewer.Other than that, the Magic needs to move Dwight Howard on draft night for draft picks and young players. Maybe the Blazers could do a sign and trade with the deal being Howard and Hedo for the 6th pick, the 11th pick, either Felton or Wes Mathews, and Joel Pryzbilla as Howard’s replacement inside. If I were Orlando I would see if they could get Batum in a sign and trade as part of the deal instead of
Felton/Matthews.Another intriguing trade for both teams would be Dwight Howard to the T Wolves for Derrick Williams, Pekovik, the 18th pick, and filler.
This trade could also include a sign and trade with Beasley and Hedo. That would give the Magic a frontline of Pekovik, Ryan Anderson,
and Derrick Williams. I think to make this trade work, Minny would have to throw in some contracts. JJ Barea and Darko might be thrown in.
That would give Orlando a promising front line, Darko as a backup big to go along with Big Baby, plus the Magic would have some picks. In the backcourt Orlando would have J Rich and Reddick on the wing with Jameer Nelson and JJ Barea at point. The T Wolves would then have a nice Big Three of Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, and Rubio with Anthony Randolph, Tolliver, Wes Johnson, Ellington, and Luke Ridnour in the rotation along with Hedo too perhaps. Great 3 man core and some solid support players around those three.
Then they could get another guy with the MLE to be their fourth scorer, either at the 2 or 3.If the Magic can’t get another superstar for Dwight then they need to get some promising young players, draft picks, and expiring contracts to make the salaries match up. If I were Orlando I would want to build around a good, young core. Orlando has tried to build around Shaq and then Dwight Howard with only two Finals losses to show for it, and they didn’t get anything for Shaq.

HitsterParticipantThe Bynum deal could be the best one the Magic get but the only issue is Bynum could be a FA next summer and he could walk away and leave the Magic with nothing. The Magic could rush out and get a high draft pick for Dwight but if we assume there is no deal for Davis, Dwight would get the hell out of Charlotte, that then makes any Washington deal unlikely for reasons given above.
For a fun idea you then get to Cleveland who have picks coming out of their ears and could easily send maybe first rounders to Orlando and still retain a draft pick for every year from 2013 going forward. With Cleveland being under cap they could maybe absorb Turko with Dwight and then trade virtually everyone bar Irving to Orlando to balance up the deal. Seriously they could maybe get Odom from Dallas for a 2nd rounder some package of send him, Gibson’s expiring deal, Walton, Thompson, Varejao and 4th pick plus future picks for Dwight and Hedo if Dwight would commit.
Dwight would get Kyrie Irving as a long term running mate, they could resign Jamison who would thrive alongside Dwight, get a veteran SG in and you maybe have an interesting core.
Orlando get 4th pick this year and also Thompson so immediately they have two post Dwight building blocks.
The only other deal that struck me could be half of Utah’s frontcourt for Dwight and Hedo and keep one of Millsap or Jefferson to play alongside Dwight. So basically Orlando get Kanter, Favours and one of Millsap/Jefferson. They again have two frontcourt building blocks and a proven NBA scorer who could be traded on for a pick in due course plus Utah have a low protected pick from GSW via Nets to throw in.
I know that these don’t really equal the value of D12 especially if he did commit to one of these teams but it gives Orlando a few options.
My personal favourite idea is that they put an extension on the table to Dwight ASAP and if trade talk continues see who he might be prepared to sign it and be traded to and then they can do a similar deal to what Denver did for Melo.
I still wonder why Dwight did opt in, all he needed to say was which teams he would play for and that if he was traded to anyone else he would opt out, that would have scared off some teams and at worse he had to only play a couple of months before he hit FA and he could do what he liked. I feel that he did not want to be seen in a bad light by Orlando fans so maybe caved in and opted in.

thricethefunParticipantWizards aren’t picking Drummond. It’s between T-Rob, MKg, and Beal.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/04/2012 - 12:59pm #677123

WizardofOzParticipant^^I think they should go star power over solid. Drummond has the most star power out of all of those players, even though he’s not guaranteed to reach it.

mhawk19ParticipantI love my wiz and I don’t care how much they keep mocking it Drummond can’t end up here. After Andray Blatche we are done with unmotivated big men for the near future. We don’t have the patience or the skill to better them at this point. So no Drummond and no Perry Jones. Even one year in college is enough to show desire and effort, Drummond was way short. I was at the game when Gtown hosted Connecticut. Drummond started the game with a nice spin move and an alley-oop. I was honestly scared. The Huskies ended up blown out and Drummond didn’t reach double figures. I couldn’t believe a guy that big and fierce disappeared so easy. Now I wouldn’t mind them continuing to hype him so somebody wants to trade up…
