Apparently Drummond retweeted Isaiah Thomas’s eyeball tweet (the same type of tweet Thomas posted right before the Horford signing) and Drummond has removed Pistons’ references from his twitter account. While it clearly not a done deal, there is a lot of smoke here. A trade makes sense for Boston. Drummond provides defense and rebounding (which they need) and is young enough that he can grow with their core. Plus, given what the Kings received for Cousins, the value of centers may be depressed right now.

Drummond makes 22 mil so what kind of package would work? Johnson Bradley and a draft pick? Obviously they’re not giving up the Nets pick for him considering what NO gave up for Cousins and you’d think they’d have Cousins if that was the asking price so maybe their own pick next year?

Its a risk though. Boston has been thriving with IT being able to drive  the paint and having outside shooting threats 1-5. Drummond not having a a game outside the paint and not being able to hit a FT would be enough for me to avoid him if I’m Boston.

they are really weak at bigman.  so are the cavs.  this woudln’t make the eastern conference a cakewalk for Lebron…

I would like to see Celtics Cavs in the ECF.

My conspiracy theory brain just thought maybe it’s the other way around.. IT to Detroit, home of his namesake, Boston keeping Brooklyn pick to draft Fultz or Ball….?

Not happening after the season he’s had. Everyone would flip, imagine that..

I’d say any package for Drummond includes Rozier, making it easier to get rid of Reggie Jackson

I would trade Drummond for nets pick + jaylen brown + contract fillers maybe dumping those for expirings and picks.

If I’m Boston I am not giving up that much potential for just Drummond who doesn’t fit Boston’s fast pace and space offense.

you realize that in the 2012 combine, drummond was the fastest player there not named bradley beal? also worth mentioning that boston has slowed their pace down tremendously this year (since the new year).

sorry but i dont see all of the jaylen brown potential, id much rather take back jae crowder.

also, for a team that cant rebound like the celtics, drummond would literally be the PERFECT fit.

The Nets picks would not be included I’m sure. It’s probably a deal based around Brown and some lesser prospects/picks and more players to match the cap.

Here in Australia there is a reporting circulating that dallasbasketball.com’s Mike Fisher claims talks underway to send Bogut to Boston dependant on a bigger Celtics trade going through

If I’m the Celtics I’m not giving up an arm and a leg to get Drummond espcially with the low price Cousins was had for. I think I would be looking to make a move for a vet big man who can be had for a lower price such as a Tyson Chandler. I know he is not what he used to be but he brings what they need rebounding and a rim protector who at the same time shouldn’t cost much more than a filler such as Zeller and a young player like Rozier. Chandler helps in the current playoff push while at the same time shouldnt hurt them in building for the future becuase Rozier is expendable if your keeping this year’s Brooklyn pick.

Everyone saying that Drummond isn’t worth Brooklyn’s pick because Cousins was gotten for cheap is forgetting one important thing – Detroit isn’t Sacramento. SVG/Bower isn’t Divac. Logic on here seems to be saying things like, because Sac got cents on the dollar for Cousins, every other big man is worth cents on the dollar. Doesn’t work that way. Maybe the "better deal" Divac was talking about was from Boston? Who knows. A young centre who is the best rebounder in the NBA I’d suggest IS worth a Brooklyn pick.

I agree. The low price tag of Cousins was largely because Divac is a terrible GM.

I guess my wording came off wrong it was more me taking it as celtics probably weren’t giving up the 1st rd pick for Cousins who in my opinoin is the better player even with the sideshow why would they give it up for Drummond.

Toronto and Detroit are currently talking about trading Drummond.

Detroit also asked Portland about CJ, but that was met with a quick “no” from Blazers.

I think if you’re going to trade Drummond you can’t be dumping him for future cap space. The Lakers can’t even attract star FA in LA so a huge amount of cap space with a WEAK team is essentially useless in Detroit. He’s on the hook for 4 more years Reggie for 3 Tobias for 3 and we’re not going to let KCP go with those guys still in the mix so it’d be nonsense to just off him just to do it.

I think this is all smoke and mirrors. The Celtics, while in deperate need of size and rebounding, would never look to add a player like Drummond to their team. He can’t shoot, he can’t space the floor, and he is a liability at the FT line. If we can get him without trading the BKR17 pick sure, but if that’s the price, I rather look at someone who could actually fit out team, like Paul George, or Blake Griffen.

I think Cousins is going to be the one that got away, because he could space the floor, score, and rebound. Celtic’s are in an interesting spot right now, and I just don’t see Ainge making a move for Drummond unless their was a bigger deal in place.

The ball woud be in Bostons court for sure. I’d make Marcus Morris available in that deal and possibly even future picks. I think Drummond and Morris for scrubs and the Brooklyn pick is worth thinking about. If I’m Detroit I want Markelle Fultz or Lonzo Ball as my Franchise player than Drummond so I’d offer it up what it takes and go from there. Boston can win it this year so there’s gotta be a price they’d be willing to pull the trigger on if they can get alot better.

     *face palm*

I don’t think people really get it. The Celtics have 1 of the most impressive treasure chest of assets in maybe league history. Multiply that with high end players on cheap deals and they have a distinct shot of creating a monster.

And you want Andre Drummond? Lol

jimmy butler, Paul George, shoulda got Cousins. Those are difference makers to reach championship levels . Andre Drummond is not

Worth the likely number 1 pick?? Tha fuk??! lmao No the hell he is not. Definitely not this year

Who’s  more important chris Paul or deandre Jordan?

Drummond at his BEST is deandre jordan, aka a player who’s quite useless without a guard to facilitate and be the star. Enough with the cliche ‘rebounding and rim  protection’. These days thats a synonym for ‘he’s tall’. You can literally find a guy off the street for that (see Javale McGhee). The league is made by guards, wings, or bigs who can score.

The #1 pick for Andre Drummond lol Get tf  outta here lls
