Lotto StudParticipantDerrick Rose refutes ESPN Mag quote
Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose denied Sunday an ESPN The Magazine report quoting him as saying performance enhancing drugs are a "huge" problem in the NBA.
Rose was one of several professional athletes asked the following question by ESPN the Magazine for its May 16 issue: "If 1 equals ‘What are PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs)’? and 10 equals ‘Everybody’s Juicing’ … How big of an issue is illegal enhancing in your sport?"
In response, Rose said, "Seven. It’s huge, and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person."
Rose issued a statement through the team on Sunday afternoon denying the quote.
"Regarding the quote attributed to me in ESPN The Magazine, I do not recall making the statement nor do I recall the question being asked," Rose said. "If that was my response to any question, I clearly misunderstood what was asked of me.
"But, let me be clear, I do not believe there is a performance enhancing drug problem in the NBA."
Rose added later: "If there was [a drug problem] … we get tested four times so it would definitely show up or something. There’s definitely not a drug problem in the NBA."
Rose, the NBA’s MVP this season, helped the Bulls take on the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. The series is tied 1-1.
He claimed the comments wouldn’t be a distraction Sunday night.
"I’m fine. I’m fine," Rose said. "Of course you definitely don’t want to go through this, but things like this happen and I clarified things. Now I’m just worried about the game."
This is a very big issue on hand if he is trying to single out specific players (LeBron, Dwight, Ben Wallace) It’s strange how someone in the Bulls organization or Stern would make him change his statement. It’s just a matter of time before we get the accusations of LeBron & Dwight on performance enhancement drugs. If or whenever this may come about, it will be bigger than Barry Bonds. If you think about it we have never had athletes like LeBron or Dwight in the NBA. I just would hate to see their names have an asterik beside their accomplishments for enhancement use.

TyroberParticipantLeBron and Dwight hit the gym every single day. They have gradually gotten bigger and stronger because they work hard at it

Memphis MadnessParticipantFunny, but Derrick Rose is one of the guys I would think would be on PED’s. First being Dwight "The Ultimate Warrior" Howard. Second being LeBron Bonds.
… well that would explain "Roid Rage Russell" Worstbrick.
Maybe Kobe. He had one of those "damn, Sammy Sosa fell off the map" playoff series. Wade might be on them. Blake Griffin probably. I can’t really think of anyone else. I don’t think Dirk is on anything… but hey, if the Mavs win a championship I think that Dirk and Jason Kidd should be allowed to take steriods just to see what they could do. Dirk could go for 35 points and 15 rebounds a night, and Jason Kidd could probably go for a 20-15-13 line every night. JJ Barea throwing down dunks would be fun to watch too…
I am pretty sure Kendrick Perkins is not taking performance enhancing drugs — well unless Twinkies count.

Scottoant93ParticipantBlake Griffin has one of the most intense workouts in the NBA. Its called the Chameleion(spelled it wrong) workout. I heard many nba players quit after the first day, and you body feels like jello after words

PAUL125Participantonly guy i really feel that might have took steroids is dwayne wade, cause he came off a real bad injury and started to produce real good stats the following year he recovered.

Lotto StudParticipantI just have a gut feeling 10-12 years from now we will hear or see about a performance enhancement drug story arise upon us on LeBron or Dwight. For those who say how can I say something like that, well who would have ever thought Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, & Mark McGwire would ever take the stand.
