Shooting, I love the sound of the ball hitting the bottom of the net. Then doing it consistently, nothing like it. That noise of a “Swish” is so magical. haha

I agree with Rubio, no better sound and feeling than swishing a few shots

Personally, i like like the 3point contest drill…5 shots at each spot
i do my best Ray All….scratch that, I do my best Danilo Gallinari impersonation

If your like most of us and dont have 25 balls, and 5 ball racks laying around…get a rebounder
you shoot, he rebounds and passes back to you

Ball-Handling: Do all of your regular ball-handling drills, but replace the basketball with a tennis ball. The best ball-handling drills are the ones that involve moving, not stationary drills.

Shooting: Backpedal to halfcourt, then sprint forward to catch the ball and shoot. If you want to work on pull-up shooting, then take two hard dribbles going towards either side and pull up as quickly as possible.

Freethrows: Record yourself shooting 50 shots. Try and make them look as identical as possible.

Defense: Look up footwork drills and do as many as possible. Footwork is probably the most overlooked aspect in all of sports.

    Hope this helps!

Taking the ball from baseline to baseline and doing an acrobatic lay-up, priceless.

I’m going to have to be a PG to be the best player I can be, so I work on the Figure 8 and 3-Cone drills for ball-handling and the 3-pass drills for passing. Those were basically the only drills I put in a bunch of work in for during the summer.

Century shooting drill is a good one.. It;s just like playing around the world. We run the kings drill at my school, too. It starts 2 on 1 and then advances to 3 on 2, 4 on 3 and then 5 on 4. It’s basically a fastbreak drill. Our school’s tallest player is only like 6’3 so we have to push it all the time. Do lots of karaokes and speed latters for footwork and take tons of free throws when you are tired, too. It’s excellent from everything to building confidence and improving your overall shooting form/ability.

One of the best things i did to work on my game was just handling the ball and getting comforable with my dribbling. I would be in the corner of the gym practicing the AND1 type ball handling stuff going between the legs and stuff. Coaches might not teach that stuff, but if you get real comfortable with the rock, then everything else will be that much easier.

Also like Da1pot said, practice your shooting after you are tired. It helps work on your form after your legs are gone. If you have a rebounder, then practice taking shots from two spots just running back and forth between them while your rebounder hits you with the pass so you can just catch and shoot with out dribbling. This is good for mimicing in game shooting when you don’t have a ton of time to gather yourself and get your rythm.
