 At 6’7, can Draymond continue to start at center or will they use him only when going small? I guess it gives them more flexibility to switch things up sometimes, but just wondering what they do with Bogut at this point. I would imagine they’re going to keep both and mix it up during the season

honestly, if i were the warriors gm, id get rid of both lee and bogut, and match whatever offer is thrown at draymond. even if its the max. ezeli is better defensively anyways. then bolster their depth at the F/C position with cheaper players that are more effective at spreading the floor.. channing frye comes to mind.

 Bogut didn’t just accidentally make 2nd team all defense. But with his contract, age and injuries I could see GS moving off of him. I just don’t think they would or should just dump him for nothing. He was very valuable to them all season and for most of the playoffs, especially against Gasol, Howard, Davis; high level bigs. I know some people are overreacting to GS going small but honestly I believe they would’ve won the series had they kept the same rotation. Cleveland was just that depleted and GS is that good of a team. It says a lot they can drop one of their starters and play all small and it works without a hitch.

Ezeli is better than who defensively?  Than the guy that finished 6th in Defensive Player of the Year voting?  Bogut is light-years ahead of Ezeli in every way.  Ezeli can block shots but he’s nowhere near Bogut in terms of actually defending the post or being a help defender, and Bogut’s passing makes him a much more valuable offensive player as well.

 Toll on everyone on the floor cause it requires that much more effort on the boards and on defense. It’s just not practical long term. Besides, we won 67 games with Bogut, Ezeli ad Speights more or less being our main centers. No need to start Draymond at center except in special cases

 Wonder if people would wonder that if skilled bigs in the league in the 90’s like O’Neal, Olajuwon, Robinson, and Ewing were around. Think this small ball talk tells more about the weakness of dominant centers in todays league when the best centers are Cousins and Dwight Howard.

The Warriors just have to think about what other competitors will be doing and see if they can make a move in anticipation to counter them. The Rockets may get another PG, the Griz may get that 3 and D player they lacked, and what if the Warriors faced the Cavs again with Love and Irving fit? Can GSW win again without preparing to counter improvements by other teams? I think they have to use Lee as an asset and reload the bench.

Similar to the platoon-system in baseball, where managers take advantage of the lefty-righty or righty-lefty mismatch, Kerr uses those players in games in which he needs them.

Although it is true the Warriors won the finals almost without Bogut, I agree with Mad Max above, who suggests that Bogut is crucial in games against teams that still have a dominant post player. However, Kerr is not afraid to bench his rim defender when he doesn’t need him, as he did against the Cavs who have no true low post presence at all. I believe Kerr has opened up a league in which more coaches will do this, creating rosters that can alter their playing style based on who is in the rotation. For next year, Bogut is still an important piece for the Warriors based on the fact that they need to beat teams like the Rockets (Howard), Spurs (Duncan?), and the Grizzlies (Gasol). For basically all other teams they could get away with playing small, as there are no true back-to-the-basket big men, as most of them play more a face-up game than anything else (e.g. Griffin, Aldridge, Davis).

Lee however is less an important piece; he is mainly an hardworking, undersized PF with a high IQ. They can pick up a cheaper version of Lee if they believe they need another PF. Someone like Jerebko or Scola might do, or they can draft Aaron White or Luka Mitrovic (both fine passers) if they are willing to wait a bit longer.
