sammybuckeye13ParticipantI think the "cool" answer would be Dragic because he plays well in limited minutes while Conley generally underperforms in big minutes, but I’d still go with Conley. He’s a better distributor, still just 22 and is a good defender. I expect him to break out this year, not in a major way, but maybe 13/7.5/1.6 steals.

andxxxParticipantI love watching Goran Dragic play and I think he could be great onced he starts getting minutes, I’ll go with Dragic

ChewyParticipant7.5 assists is a little too high for Conely. Not that he doesn’t have that capability, but his top two teammates (Gay and Mayo) are both adept at scoring off the bounce which will take away some of his assists per game.
I think Conley is the better player and has the potential to be a long standing starter for the Griz.

llperezi like conley better. I think most people might pick dragic becasue he broke out last year and hasnt had the opportunity to start like conley has, but conley is still a better overall team leader and pg in my book.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantConley is the better point guard. Dragic is a better scorer. Dragic has shown NO pg skills to me so far. Even in his biggest game, he had like 1 assists.

HitsterParticipantAs a Phoenix fan I hope that Dragic turns out to be a 2nd round steal and another two years behind Nash will help him hugely. Conley has developed steadily since he was drafted but he needs to up his assists which should be impressive with so many scorers in Memphis’s starting 5. Being his contract year he needs to step up and produce say 15ppg, 7apg to show he can take the team forward.

JoeWolf1Dragic is great to watch, he is very exciting and fearless. I think he’ll either take over for Nash or be a starting point guard for someone else someday, but right now I’d say Mike Conley. He was taken high and hasn’t lived up to expectations, but he still put up 12 pts 5 assists 1.5 steals and shot a pretty solid percentage from the feild, the 3 point line and the free throw line for a point guard. In 5 years, I don’t know if ill still say Conley, but right now I do.

ilike.panochasParticipantConley is better right now, but thats only because hes gotten more minutes and experience. But in the long run I think Dragic will be the better PG, plus I love his size for a PG at 6’4. I stopped believing in Conley and I actually think hes the weakspot on the Grizzlies, if they had a good PG, they would be a playoff team. They pretty much have everything set, a good frontcourt (Gasol, Randolph), good wing players and scorers (Gay, Mayo), and PG is pretty much their weakspot.

JNixonParticipantIf I want a backup PG to play like 20 mpg or so, and want to play at a fast pace, I’d pick Dragic. If I want a backup who can be a championship PG, I go with Conley.
Dragic plays a fun-to-watch, flashy game and has some nice scoring ability, and he’s more likely to be aggressive and assertive than Conley is offensively. But Conley is a more natural PG and leader, and he plays much better D than Dragic does. I don’t think either is more than a true backup, but I’d rather have Conley if I want to have the most long-term success. Conley might not be more than very mediocre as a starter, but he’d make an elite level backup.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI’ll go with Conley..He might be doing the things Dragic is doing if he played with the Suns…Conley is great at going North to South..Its when he goes East to West when he seems to get confused…Conley has improved his 3 point shooting..He’s still no Reggie Miller or Ray Allen beyond the arc..But he’s much better than he once was….Grizzlies say he’s been very aggressive in camp..But they’ve said that for the past 3 years…Conley needs to be in another system…

utehawkfan1026Participanti would give the edge to conley. to me conley is not a starter in the NBA. he would be a terrific backup but not a starter. the grizzlies are just a great point guard away from making the playoffs

PureshooterParticipantI would say Dragic, but that’s mainly because the Suns are on TV about 3X more than the Grizz since they usually make the playoffs. I haven’t seen much of Conley.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis isn’t a difficult question. Conley is only 22 years old (two years younger than Dragic) and he’s a better point guard. Dragic is the better scorer and more exciting to watch, but he isn’t a good defender nor distributor. The offense the Suns run benefits Dragic.
Conley hasn’t set Memphis on fire, but he’s improved every season. And for those people saying he should average more assists… How? He plays with two ball stoppers in Randolph and Gay. He plays with another guard in Mayo who can stop the ball as well. Then add in Gasol who needs space to go to work down low. Conley averaged 5.3 assists last season, which wasn’t that bad. He’s done a good job playing/moving without the ball and knocking down open shots. Memphis doesn’t need a ball dominant point guard.
