Jjett279ParticipantStrengths: big physical specimen, great shooter 42 percent from three this year. Fluid 7 footer pretty good defensively two
Weaknesses: not great athlete, good rebounder but could be better. Very thin at 216 needs more eight but can improve in weight room.
Comparison: Kristaps porzingis

Bankroll PJParticipantThat’s a lazy comparison and lazy summary of his strengths and weaknesses. Can anyone give a more in-depth analysis of Bender with better comps? Also, why do people only list black players for the comps of blacks players, white players for the comps of white players, and foreign players for the comps of foreign players?

Hype MachineI’m not sure why we only compare players based on ethnicity. Nonetheless I’m really struggling with my Satnam Singh Comparison
Ceiling – The Great Khali
Floor – Mahatma Ghandi
Realistic – Apu from the Kwik-E-Mart

mercyman25ParticipantESPN writer Bill Simmons claimed that Tskitishvili is "the worst-case scenario for any foreign pick" in the NBA. I claim, what has Dragan Bender done for us to expect any more than that guy? Two 7 footers that will be drafted too high.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI haven’t seen enough enough of bender to really have a huge opinion of him or give an accurate assessment of what he projects to be. I don’t like the porginzis comp at all and I think the Toni kukoc comp on this site is even worse. He lacks porzingis freakish length and kukocs vision and feel for the game.
The best I could do with a comparison at this point is Andrea bargnani. I’m not saying he couldn’t ultimately turn out better version of bargnani but that’s who his game reminds me of the most at the same age. And I’m sorry if I’m comparing him to another big, white European guy but that’s just who he reminds me of most.

OhCanada-ParticipantBargnani is always a bad comparison although I do understand from a skill set standpoint. But with Andrea is intangibles were terrible. His desire to win and competitive nature was not high enough to be a star player. Bender is not like that from what scouts are reporting. He is a student of the game that loves to play which is a great sign in any prospect whether you are from North America or Europe.

HitsterParticipantAran and co on this site use the Bulls Mirotic as a comparison. But that is more likely the Mirotic when Chicago drafted him rather than when he came over to the NBA.
Bender is one of the youngest guys in the draft and to find comparisons for European Big Guys is always harder, it tends to go back to another Euro Big Guy. I can understand this as our minds almost push us towards such comparisons as seeing a skillset likeness between a white Euro Guy and Black NBA Guy is something our subconscious may not immediately recognize I think.
As regards Bender, I’ve not seen a lot of in game action on him and highlight reels can be edited to show what thair creator wants to a certain degree so I don’t take as much notice of them.
Bender’s biggest drawing points are his upside and intangibles, he may be a risker pick than a more proven NCAA guy but the rewards could be greater. As always it only needs one Front Office to like him on draft night and he’s in the NBA.

mamadouParticipantHe has ¨Pau Gasol" segments with better foot speed, fluidity…
Gasol was drafted at 21, kid is 18.
At 19 gasol averaged 4 and 2, not a shot blocker, passer nor rebounder, bad FT shooter(55%).
He exploded at 20, big time rookie, nba ready at 21.
Bender will probably never be Gasol, but like gasol he should stay 2 more years in europe, Celts can wait him with the nets pick, Suns can’t IMO(bad organisation, no team, no coach, no high ball historically, not the nba trend either).
