Both Jonas Valanciunas and Enes Kanter had pretty nice tournaments, averaging 8 and 4 and 9 and 4. Valanciunas did average 2.6 turnovers, playing 16 mpg, which is really bad.

Now Ricky Rubio did not impress. Playing 17 mpg he averaged 1.5 pts, 2.5 rebs and 2.1 assists. He was backup to José Calderon and his shooting % was terrible.

Davis Bertans, who was drafted by the Spurs averaged 5.6 ppg and 2 rebs, but for a player who was seen as a sharpshooter his 17.6% 3pt% was terrible.

    Don’t remember any other players.

So, what does that mean? Do you think Kanter will be productive right from the start? Will Rubio’s terrible shooting make him a liability on offense?

Rubio’s lack of progression overseas is probably the best thing for the Timberwolves, because it means his value isn’t high enough that he can just refuse to come over. I still think he’ll play well for Minny though, and this poor play is partly the blame of the system he’s in, where seniority is such a factor.

its too early too tell…euros take a little longer to develop IMO…they are all so young, wouldnt surprise me to see Jonas and Bertans play overseas for awhile longer

as for Rubio…you dont have to be a great shooter to play PG in the NBA…but you better play defense and i donno if he can…we will see tho

Kanter was the most impressive, he showed that he’s NBA ready. The concerns about whether his ability and his body had declined after not playing a season of organised basketball, seem to have been eased a little bit. Even if he doesn’t turn out to be a "star" i still think he can be a very serviceable and useful player for the Jazz.

I’m not worried about Rubio’s stats, Spain have Navarro and Calderon who deserved the chance to lead Spain to the tournament victory, Rubio will get his chance in the next Eurobasket and FIBA. His defense and passing will translate to the NBA, he’ll struggle to score but that’s what Beasley, Williams, Love and Johnson are for, those guys will score the majority of the T’Wolves’ points, Rubio’s job will be to help set those players up and get them easier chances. Rubio will start, he will produce because of that.

I didn’t see much of Bertans, but that’s a worry if he can only hit 17.6% of his three-pointers on a Euro three point line.

Jonas Valanciunas started off really badly, but he picked things up with three back-to-back 10-point plus games, but he disappeared after those games, he made alot of bonehead decisions during Eurobasket, he is young so i’d expect inconsistencies but he was at times, very lazy and he expected things to just happen for him. Another year overseas is a complete godsend to Jonas and anyone linked with the Raptors, he’s not fully ready for the NBA right now.

I am interested to know what people think about Nick Calathes and Koponen

Also Llull has been playing good for Spain, but honestly I doubt he will ever go to the NBA
    ____________
As for the bigger names,Rubio was disappointing ,Val and Kanter exceeded my expectations
Bertans is proving he is in the 2nd round for a reason
