I’ve never been a huge fan of the Spurs as they always seemed to deny my Suns in the mid 2000’s but they are the best landing space for Wemby with their hugely experienced coaching staff and front office. The perfect guys there or can be called upon to help guide him plus it gives Pops something to aim for when if the pick had gone other ways he might have been considering retirement.

The Hornets at number 2 get some lottery luck but have to decide between Miller and Scoot unless they take a swing on Amen or even consider moving down.

Portland will be delighted to move up to no 3 and will have a choice of a couple from Scoot, Brandon and Amen. Also it gives more options whether they look to try and retool and immediately get get into the play offs with Damian Lillard still around his peak or hit rebuild button. If they take Scoot I think it might be rebuild and with Dame turning 33 soon maybe he deserves a run on another team.

Two quick trade ideas spring to mind, the Knicks have a fair few picks and reached 2nd round of play offs so adding Dame puts him on a play off team and figures to improve their chances. RJ Barrett, D-Rose’s team option and pick consideration could work.

My other one was the Magic who improved by 12 wins last season and have a great young frontcourt they have two lottery picks this year and future picks so once you ring fence Banchero and a few other key guys they can still send Portland a nice package and again its a trade to the other Conference.

Houston will still get a good pick at 4 and apart from missing out on Wemby cannot be too disappointed. Udoka will have a good young pool of players to work with and we sjhould see progression next season.

Detroit dropping from 1 to 5 are the big losers but will have Cade Cunningham back next year and have amasssed some young prospects via draft or trades. So it will be a case of taking BPA or looking for a long term SF to eventually replace Bojan.

I really like how lottery turned out.

Wenbanyama and Sochan will be scary.

I think the best thing for Portland would be to send Dame to Brooklyn for Simmons, Cam Thomas and 4 picks and than to send one of those picks to Charlotte for 2nd pick so they can get Henderson. Charlotte can get Miller at 3rd and get additional asset.

Scoot, Simons, Sharpe, Simmons, Nurkić is good start for rebuilding.

A trade of some kind definitely makes the most sense for Portland, I think they would rather keep Dame though and package #3 for Orlando’s #6 & #11 or something similar. Portland could target off-ball types like Taylor Hendricks and Anthony Black while Orlando takes BPA at #3.

If Portland stays at 3 and keeps Dame I would hope they take Amen, who would really balance out a future perimeter with Simons and Sharpe, taking on primary point of attack defense at first and growing into the primary distributor.

This was a very strange outcome for Scoot overall, a lot of the teams at the top of the lottery have point guards/primary ball handlers of the future locked in place, his best fits were San Antonio, DC, and maybe Utah (Houston culture seems no bueno atm). A lot of teams have multiple picks in the first round, I think we’ll see more trades than usual.

If Portland want to get back in the play offs with Dame I’d think they need to take BPA but a lot will depend on what Jerami Grant does as if he moves on they have a need at PF and generally their frontcourt needs strengthening more than the backcourt so I do like what Sweaterflex suggests . Orlando’s 6th and 11th for Portland’s 3rd and 23rd would make sense to me as Magic could potentially get Scoot and Portland can get a big with 6th or 11th and then whatever their other need was with the other.

What about Siakam and OG for Simons, Sharpe, Little, #3 and #23?
    Portland after the trade:
    Lillard
    OG
    Grant
    Siakam
    Nurkic
