SwatLakeCityParticipantLet’s say you are the GM of one the worst teams in the NBA. Your star player is a point guard.(Let’s say it’s Russel Westbrook(Durant is not on your team, just in case you are wondering, the only star player you have is Westbrook.) At the end of the season your team wins the lottery. The most talented player is John Wall who also plays the point guard position, what do you do?
A: Draft Wall anyways because of talent
B: Draft the next best player which is Ed Davis because of need
C: Trade down and draft Davis that way because of need0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/11/2009 - 9:40am #199193

Daprob89ParticipantA, its John Wall and you can always trade Westbrook away for talent at another position

McWinningParticipantid rather take a star theres lots of teams who you could trade to. and lol Ed Davis shouldnt be the second pick in the draft.

SwatLakeCityParticipantAllen, pick a side. Not one or the other. Read the post again if you can’t figure out which side to choose.

Lemons4LifeParticipantCompletely agree Davis is nothing right now, at best maybe (huge maybe) a raw Drew Gooden.

MagikKnickParticipantwhat?
…where do you pull these comparisons from0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/11/2009 - 10:24am #199233

sheltwon3ParticipantI would trade down and take Davis. I like Wall but how much better is he then Westbrook. I think Davis could be a better version of Brook Lopez. I have not seen him play much but i have seen him play some and how he moves and what not plus I am familiar with his dad and I am sure that there are part of his game that reflect his dad’s style to some degree except Ed is said to be more athletic.

sheltwon3ParticipantLet me change this up i would trade down and take the best available big. I will need to see who is coming out because I did not realize davis was that short I thought he was 6 11. At 6’10’ or shorter that is hard to take him number 2 at this point but if he grows a inch or so maybe and he has to add like 25 pounds of muslce too.

sheltwon3ParticipantI do like Westbrook at the two when I hear that Wall is not a great shooter. The fact that they have Durant now makes this not look so bad but the thing is OKC needs a legit big or a bruising forward. The are solid on guards. Harden will hold it down for sure.

GoodbyeChandlerParticipantbecause you can always add more talent by trading down. you get the guy you want and add extra.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI’d take John Wall, because if RW is your star player, you just need to assemble as many assets as possible and work on the roster balance later… That’s assuming your assessment is that John Wall is the best prospect, which I don’t necessarily think is the case

Lemons4LifeParticipantMagikknick they just come random in about 5 seconds.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI keep Westbrook, he is very good, and will be great in the future.
I trade down, I dont see Davis doing much

SwatLakeCityParticipantOk so most of you are saying draft Wall anyways and move your PG star to the SG. I just did a tally and A had 6 votes, b, none, and c, 3(that’s if your star player is Westbrook) What if it is Harris of the Nets, does the situation change or not? I don’t think Harris can play the 2, but he is still possible to be traded. What do you think then. Now you star player is Harris, not Westbrook.
