If the Draft was today, this is how I would see it playing out.
– Washington would most likely trade #2 pick (Rubio) along with some other players to L.A. for their #3 pick (Thabeet). Wizards will still end up with a Spanish player except it will be Llull.
– Knicks are rumored to take Curry but I think they’ll draft locally and take Flynn to be their franchise point guard. He has more upside than Curry and knows how to play the 1 position already.
– Toronto will take Clark since Marion might not be re-signed.
– Bucks may trade Redd around draft time, so Evans would be the replacement at SG.
– Suns need a SF/PF, so I think they’ll take Daye.
– With Patterson deciding to return, I expect Hansbrough to crack the first round. Chicago really needs a backup PF and Hansbrough would fit right in.
– Though the draft has a lot point guards and the Kings need one, I don’t expect them to take one until the second round (Calathes).

Mr. BasketballParticipantthe rubio trade is what i have been thinking too. However, I think that the knicks will take curry since they didn’t draft for need last year with gallinari: they already had chandler. After passing on a scorer like EJ, they won’t pass on curry this time.

QHaynes123What if NYC says we want Rubio??
Move up by doing a sign and Trade deal and swapping 1st rounders

pistonsmanParticipantOk Portland in the second round has the 55 and the 56 pick now this usually does not happen but it i think a possible trade could be boston’s 58 pick. They could trade the pick for someone like a Eddie House Or a Glen Davis but this pick will only happen if their is someone good left on the board. If not will then they will trade to someone else.

Mr. BasketballParticipantthey would need to trade their first #8 overall + wilson chandler + Gallinari + a big contract expiring in 2010 for #2 overall and a big contract expiring later than 2010 = not happening unless they get a top 3 pick.

TocaneParticipantHarrington won’t work since he’s a free agent in the summer. Since Washington is set at SF and PF, I doubt they even bother with Harrington.
New York’s only trade assets are Chandler, Gallinari, and Hughes. Maybe Washington would bite on a trade of Gallinari, 2009 lottery pick, and future 1st for Rubio and Blatche.

llperezWait a minute, to the thread starter, why would Washington trade the #2 pick and some players to get the #3 pick?
And to pistonsman, you are crazy if you think the Celtics would trade either Glen Davis or House for the 55th and 56th picks.
Am I just misreading things, or are people actually making these suggestions?

rvirsalParticipantportland would surely make a splash but i think instead of getting higher, they’d proly go lower and acquire veterans in the process (hinrich perhaps?). okc has a lot of picks so i think they’d proly trade some to go higher in the 1st round (the 25th pick) or for future ones. curry is a lock with the knicks pick if they don’t get 1,2, or 3. spurs would surely get a euro prospect with one of their picks.
