GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantExcerpt from a ESPN article
Which second-rounder is most likely to make an all-rookie team?
My joke, every time I get asked this question, is simply: "If we knew that, they wouldn’t be in the second round."
OK, but I’ll try to answer the question anyway. Last year Washington’s Isaiah Thomas was the 60th pick in the draft and made the NBA’s All-Rookie second team.
I think that guy in this draft could be Maryland’s Terrell Stoglin. He’s an undersized scoring guard, like Thomas, who can really light it up. I’m not even sure that Stoglin will be drafted, but a number of teams told me he kicked the butts of several first-round prospects in workouts.
I could see Stoglin putting up instant offense coming off the bench for a bad team-Chad Ford
I used to always say that Stoglin actually has a more complete game than Austin Rivers but his issue is he is shorter. He can score effectively on all three levels (from three, midrange and close to the basket) he can handle the ball, plays the pick and roll very well and can defend pg’s. Only issue is he didn’t look like a pg in college. IMO he will be one of the steals of the draft

JNixonParticipantHe can score, nobody questions that. But he’s in a Quincy Douby type mold. One where he doesnt pass alot, isnt a PG, and doesnt play good defense. AND he isnt exactly of model character and never came close to being a leader at Maryland

Winning_TimeParticipantI actually put him as getting drafted by New Orleans in the second round

JNixonParticipantI put Stoglin in my countdown at #48 and almost got crucified

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantI don’t think playing the PG is going to be much of a issue since he won’t be put on a team to be a starting pg. He will come off the bench and his role will be to score ala J.J Berera. As far as defense 90 percent of the players drafted aren’t good defenders and most NBA players aren’t so that won’t be much of a issue either. He didn’t have the best off the court character but let’s be honest, many young players have issues coming into the NBA and have new issue’s once they get in the NBA. If I’m a GM i think i can handle a player who’s issue was smoking weed sinc ei’m sure more than half of my team engages in that.
Drafting him in the second round or as a free agent doesn’t have much risk. He could easily turn into a Dana Barros,J.J B, Eddie House or any other short off the bench scorer. Probably wouldn’t take him in the first round but the reward out weighs the risk by a lot in the second round

Wahoo757ParticipantThe two games I watched him was when he played UVA and he convinced me he’s not an NBA player. He went 12-41 from the field with 2 assists during those 2 games. He showed promise as a role player because he can get really hot from behind the arc, but he’s overly agressive on offensive and is an unwilling passer, he plays below average defense, and isn’t that great athletically. He has talent, but he really needs to make some adjustments to his game if he wants to be an NBA player. I just don’t see that happening right now.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipant2 games out of 40 something is a very incomplete scouting report. That would be no different than someone who watched two of his best games and then thought he was a top 5 pick (against Clemson and UNC for example)

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantStoglin Also was a better scorer as a Soph than Douby by a good 6 points. He isn’t the most unselfish guard but considering who he had around him i can understand why he didn’t pass much

MagikKnickParticipantStoglin is another guy that has me confused, he can definitely score..but what else does he bring to an NBA team?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/26/2012 - 9:30am #688210

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantpretty much thats all he would bring to a team to start out with. Like most guys off the bench, he has a specific skill set

RUDEBOY_ParticipantReports say he’s only 5’11..and he’s a shooting guard in a point guard’s body…In the right situation he can be an instant offense type of player..If he goes to the right team…I have the Wizards taking him in the 2nd round…

JNixonParticipant"Stoglin Also was a better scorer as a Soph than Douby by a good 6 points. He isn’t the most unselfish guard but considering who he had around him i can understand why he didn’t pass much"
What does that mean? Both offer the same things and project the same way, how many ppoints they averaged in the same year isnt an indicator of how they project to the NBA. 2 different conference, 2 different teams, too different roles. Douby wasnt as selfish as Stoglin

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantHe’s too one dimensional all he looks to do is score, you can’t say he didn’t have teammates to pass to because Maryland had a bunch of guys that could create their own shot and score its just his selfishness that caused the team to underperform he hurt his team more than helping it

ENOGSIWONdedeStoglin actually could of played in the league like 10 years ago but the game has changed undersized ballhogs have no place in the game today
