Saw it on SportsCenter earlier today.  Not sure if it’s been posted but Don Nelson looks to coach the Wolves next season.  With all that athleticism, I’m sure with his up-tempo style, along with Rubio’s passing and Love’s ability to spread the floor as a big, the Timberwolves may be exciting to watch next season.

And yes, Don Nelson is crazy enough to start Love-Williams-Beasley-Johnson-Rubio.

With all of the combo forwards they have, Randolph is probably on his way out anyway lol.

I wouldn’t be mad if the Pacers inquired about him and was the next team to give his potential a chance.

This would be such a temporary solution to their coaching woes, and they’d be looking for a new head coach within 18 months of hiring him.  But I admit I want to see it happen for entertainment reasons.

He would fit pretty good with Indiana as they have a void at power forward with just Hansborough there and Randolph could come in and help with their running and transition game and bolster there defense. I think straight up for Rush would do both teams good as Minny gets a shooter and a guy who can play shooting guard.

    ^Anthony Randolph isn’t bolstering anyone’s defense.

It’d be fun to see Rubio’s first coach be one with so much experience and such an up-tempo style. He’ll probably give him a longer leash as he gets adjusted.

The wolves need a veteran coach after failing with Rambis who had only been an assistant before.  I would rather see someone with a more complete approach rather than offense only but if he was willing to bring in a defensive assistant that really has a say in the coaching, then I would be all for it.  Does this give the Twolves a better chance of trading for Monta Ellis?

I really hope Nelson doesnt become the Wolves coach, I’m a lifelong Warriors fan and i’ve suffered through 2 Don Nelson coaching stints, he might improve your team record, but he doesnt necesarily make your team better. His approach to coaching defense is non-existent( he literally doesnt coach d, his last stint in GSW he had Keith Smart coaching D while Donnie drank cognac on the sidelines and talked shi*t to Anthony Randolph and Andris Biedrins) and his uptempo offense stressing mismatchs and small ball is fun to watch but its proven its not a championship winning scheme. The primary reason I dont want to see Nelson go to the Wolves is because I want to see Anthony Randolph grow as a player, I think he has enormous, superstar potential if he can keep his attiutde in check and develop a better work ethic. I know a lot of people say so and so player has superstar potential and would tear up the league if he had a better attitude and/or work ethic but most of the time its bs, there are only so many players with the athletic gifts and natural instincts who are actually capable of this and I think AR15 is one of them. He is very young still (he just turned 22 yesterday), has shown tremendous offensive potential, he has a great handle for a guy his size (he trys to do too much with it smetimes and gets a little sloppy, but theres only two guys his size in the league with his ball handling abilities KD and Dirk), hes 6’11 225lbs and he will only get heavier as he gets older, hes a great rebounder with a natural sense for where the ball is going to be, he good very shot blocker but he bites on way to many pump fakes and he has shown the ability to be a good defender at the 4 spot but lacks the work ethic to play good d consistently. I really wanna see him get some run time and be able to develop as a player because I think he could be really special if motivated and wiiling. If Nelson comes in Anthony Randolph will be permantly stationed on the bench and get no play, because Nelly hates him and vice versa. If Nelly does become the Wolves coach I would like to see AR15 traded to the Pacers in a trade possible along these line:

If Rick Adelman can’t be lured, then Don Nelson is the next best thing, he does finds ways to somehow make any team work, nobody else would’ve thought of playing Dirk Nowitzki the way he did. I’d imagine he run with a Rubio-Johnson-Beasley-Williams-Love lineup, that would be interesting to watch under a Nelson system. That could also be a solid defensive unit if a Defensive Minded Assistant was hired alongside.

That timberwolves team has no defense in the starting five outside of Darko and possibly Rubio (hes an unknown, but I liked his d in the olympics and from Euro games I have seen him play in), how would hiring Nelly and a solid defensive assistant fix the fact they cant guard anyone at 3 positions? I have seen Nelly in action no ones defensive play or fundamentals has improved under his tutelage. Defense and clutch scoring wins championships and thats the goal of every team in the league right, Nelly’s coaching is counterproductive in the defensive department.

Wes Johnson is a commendable defensive player.  The only real problem defensively is having Beasley at the 3 or Love on the court.  Beasley cannot guard the prototype SF and Love is lacking defensively as a big.  If D-Will proves to be a better 3 than 4 (which I doubt), a lineup of Rubio/Johnson/Williams/Beasley/Love might surprise some people defensively.
