ProudGrandpaParticipantMaybe this is “weak sauce” of me, but I use some of the other users’ mocks as a resource for my own, in addition to Aran and a few other mocks made by pros (“pros” lol). But anyways, I’ve been looking at a few other users’ mocks in particular:
juves4783- This guy has gotten top 28 in the site’s contest in each of the past FOUR years, which is insane, especially when the average poster like me is always in the 400-600 range
Siggy- This guy is a really intelligent poster to begin with, who’s gotten, like, 6000 points in just over a year of posting on the forum. But his first and only mock that he’s had in the contest got 1st last year. So I really trust his judgment.
Joewolf1- One of the well-respected veteran posters on this site, JoeWolf had a down year last year, finishing in the 600s. But he got 23rd in 2010 and 7th in 2011. His specialty, in my opinion is pegging the lesser-known guys in the second round, and I’ve really looked a lot at his second round to help with my own mock.
So just some advice for you guys, if you’re not above looking at other users mocks before the draft, then use these three as resources.

CynthiaParticipantI don’t copy anyone, I go from 1-60 manually. Even when I make changes I usually wipe my board, wipe my pool, and do it all over again. This year I’ve already redone my entire draft 6 times and I will give it one more change before the draft.
I do find it funny how the more common posters here score fairly low while most the top 100 is people I’ve never even seen post before.
Last year was my first crack at it and I got 264th place, I was pretty satisfied though because as you said most the common posters were 400+

ProudGrandpaParticipantI mean, yeahof course I do my own manually, too, but for picks that I don’t have a real great feeling about, I look at some of these other guys for ideas and maybe a consensus

TyroberParticipantI don’t look at other mocks unless they make a thread about them. I usually look at espns, DE’s, and of course NBAdraft.net. I do not know who juves is but that is pretty damn amazing to be in the top 28 for 4 years in a row.

CynthiaParticipantMy strategy is based on 4 different steps.
Step 1: Primary team need – If no one in the moderate range fits this I move to step 2.
Step 2: Secondary need – This is usually for if they have a small hole but it’s not a necessity
Step 3: BPA – If the team has no glaring needs, or has already filled those needs
Step 4: International/Stash – If none of the above apply and BPA doesn’t even work(for example if there are a few players of about equal value and no clear BPA)It worked well for me last year and I’m fairly confident this year even though it’s a very unpredictable draft.
I also try not to reach too much, I compare players and ponder the above 4 steps within a range of about 20 players. But more times than not the primary/secondary needs are also BPA or really close to it.

220ParticipantI’d rather fail or succeed on my own personally. Especially considering the only thing at stake is bragging rights.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI don’t see anything wrong with looking at other mock drafts but I don’t do it. It someone was looking at mine to create theirs, I wouldn’t mind, mainly because it’s not like I’m going to lose a million dollar contest if someone did better.

HaleParticipantMy strategy is to put it at all together at the last minute because I’m lazy. Base the top picks off the big rumors of who will go where then pretty much wing it for the 2nd round.
