Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantThis site, and most of us(myself included) consider him a small forward, but more and more draft analysts and sports sites are calling him a shooting guard.
I think my opinion of him may be higher if he plays shooting guard in the pros. Or will he be a Paul George guy who can slide over to the 2, but is really better at the 3?
Just asking because I see him being called “GUARD Andrew Wiggins” more and more.

ChoppyParticipantHe’s a 3 who has the athleticism to slide to the two for stretches. Heck, if Kyle Singler can play the two for a whole season I guess Wiggins could. Personally I think this whole ‘guard’ business is in response to the lack of depth in 2-guards in the NBA.

jwostrumParticipantid play him at the 2 for his lighting quick speed and elite athleticism. plus i dought he will ever get much bigger than 215 with his skinny frame. he could be a nightmare matchup for nba 2 guards.

Memphis MadnessParticipantNot sure he is a pure shooter. If not, then he is a 3 along the lines of Paul George. Of the older guys that he is compared to with similar skill set, length, athleticism, and talent, Dr. J, Dominique Wilkins, and Tracy McGrady were all considered small forwards.
Kevin Durant who is taller, longer, and a much better shooter than Wiggins is a pure small forward who struggled at the 2.
I think that George Gervin played both wing spots but he was also a pure scorer like Durant.
If Wiggins wants to play the 2 then he needs to get better from long range, and basically model his scoring game off of Kobe Bryant.
If his game revolves around being quicker than overmatched forwards then he is a 3. If he can blow by and defend the quickest guards in the league then he can play primarily at the 2.
Either way he has to turn himself into a great defender in order to make himself ELITE. Then he would be a cross between Scottie Pippen and T Mac/Nique/Dr. J. Basically a legit small forward who can also play some 2 and some point forward.

SiggyParticipantThe only thing that will determine his position is who he can defend. Neither he nor his coach has a say in who defends him.
I think he’ll be able to defend 2’s. He slides his feet well, can get in a low stance, is rangy so he can give ground and recover.
I actually think his defense his further along than his offense.Because of his defensive versatility I’d consider him a swingman capable of defending the 2 and 3. Of course he’ll have to get stronger to defend the bigger 3’s.

TyroberParticipantI think too much is made out of positions. Wiggins will be a wing player.

CavFanPRParticipantHe’s a swingman so this is a pointless question.

MkadozaParticipantHe will be a much better player if he gains the necessary skills to be considered a shooting guard. Wiggins could get by on atleticism and defense as SF, but if get the shooting and ball handling to break down defenses as the secondary ball handler, than his value skyrockets. This is the difference between the Rudy Gay’s and the Tracy McGrady’s. This is also what stops Barnes from being a two guard.
