Meditated StatesParticipantIf Rose had the game Rondo had tonight we would see 3 to 4 different forums on it. Not 1 on the game that kid had. 15pts,11reb,20 dimes 2steals.
Do the C’s get the sweep or do the Knicks steal 1?

omphalosParticipantI think Celtics sweep at this stage, without Chauncey and having an ailing Amare, they are vastly superior to the Knicks at this stage. Plus, now that it’s in reach Celtics will play extra hard for that sweep so they get more rest against Miami, who haven’t dropped a game, and could well be fresh against Boston.

rtbtParticipantWho was it in this forum that made a one game assessment of how fantatic Carmelo Anthony is and the Knicks trade with Denver? That guy and many others were praising Anthony and the trade based on only one game. Joe Wolf advised them to exercise caution and don’t put so much emphasis on one performance.
Where was that guy after last night’s game?

sheltwon3ParticipantI am still an Anthony fan, and Knicks will win game 4. Melo does not have too many games where he doesnt score. Amare should be a lil bit better. Also i doubt Allen plays as well as he did game 3. The Knicks bench showed up but the 2 stars wer AWOL.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIts a shame for Knicks fans becuz they could’ve been up 2-0..In the last game if Jefferies would’ve went straight up ,there was a good possibilty Garnett might’ve fouled him…But instead he tries to make a pass..That Garnett intercepts and then calls timeout…Melo played great that game…

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThats the bad thing about these so called super teams..That have 3 star players that are used to being the MAN..And that sometimes forces them to do sometime they’re not use to thats playing without the ball…
Adding Melo forced the Knicks to abandon the free flowing offense they had..And that has affected Fields game…It also affected their rol players..No disrepect to Shawn Williams but he was out of the league last year and now the Knicks are looking for him to be solid in the playoffs…

omphalosParticipantI’m not sure if it’s a matter of being "the man" as making the skill-sets work. If you look at Boston as an example of three star players in ’08, they meshed together perfectly; versatile scorer and defender in PP, catch-and-shoot guy Ray Allen and defensive anchor/stretch 4 in Garnett. When you add in Rondo as a pass-first PG they have almost the perfect lineup from 1-4 in terms of skill-set.
In Melo you have a great scorer who likes to catch and set himself in isolation plays, and Amare who essentially does the same. You saw a similar thing in Miami when Wade and Lebron teamed up; because both were so used to making all the plays and doing a lot of scoring things were a little rocky, but now that Wade has accepted the role of scorer and Lebron primary playmaker, things are running a lot smoother. Lebron is actually a better fit with Amare give his playmaking skills, and Melo really needs a Ray Allen sort and a defensive C.
Going to be interesting to see what they decide to do with Chauncey Billups after this season ends. I also think the Knicks got a very bad matchup in Boston, who play a team game with lots of depth, whereas Miami are much better given how similar they are in strengths and weaknesses. That would have been a fun series, alas.

TallmanNYCParticipantYeah, where is the post for Rondo’s 20 assists? Celtics playoff record! And those Celtics have had a few playoff games and a few good point guards. Very impressive anytime you set a Celtic team record.
At the start of the series, I said Melo would lose a game and win a game all by himself. He lost us game one (1 – 11 in the second half). I just hope that Game 2 wasn’t his best. If it was, well it was very very good. I thought he’d beast for at least one game and he certainly did in game 2. But without Billups, Amare and all the other guys who were traded away, the Knicks don’t have enough to compete for a full game it seems.
But let’s hope for just a little more Melo Magic.

HitsterParticipantThe Celtics with their experience and defence were probably the worse match up that a free flowing team like the Knicks could have drawn as the Celtics will play the game at their pace and not be drawn into a scoring contest as the Knicks may have hoped.
But most people on this forum tipped the Knicks to be 6th or 7th seed with a season at or above .500 and anything they did in the play offs was a bonus. Next season is when the fans will expect the Knicks to get close to 50 wins or better and become a more consistent challenger, so in many ways this off season will be even more crucial to the Knicks than last year.
I hope the Knicks may sneak a game but Boston should win 4-1 or at worse 4-2.
