Suns traded G. Dragic, Z Dragic, I. Thomas, Ennis, Plumlee and their very valuable top 3 protected pick for 2016 from Lakers (probably not this years top 5 protected pick) for B. Knight, D. Granger M Thorton, Cavs pick in the 20s for 2015 and picks from Boston?  Hope those picks arent outside the lottery too because thats nearly half the team plus a golden pick for NEARLY NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please clarify someone please im feeling ill…

That Lakers pick is gold, so for that alone, you should absolutely feel sick.  I wish I could explain or give a rationale thought on why the Suns went way overboard with the trades, but I can’t think of one.

Well they were losing Dragic so they needed to replace his production, and did so with Knight, who is younger/more upside and playing at the same level as Dragic. They gave up at best the #6 pick and someone on his way out for Knight, so long as the Suns resign him it’s a good trade in my mind.

I agree… not sure I understand the logic here.  They must be really high on Brandon Knight.  I like Knight too, but he isn’t an upgrade over Dragic.  In hindsight they shouldn’t of signed Thomas and just stuck with the Bledsoe/Dragic backcourt.  The only thing that makes this trade really bad is giving up that Lakers pick.

Dragic is the better player now but in 3 years Knight will only be 26 and Dragic will be nearly 32, I think long term it will prove its worth. And yes the give up a possible top pick from LA, but with how bad the lakers are there’s probably less a 50% shot they get that pock, so they might have traded something that doesn’t exist for Knight. Plus with how well Knight has been on a good team and his age, I would say I’d take Knight over say the 6th pick in the this years (or most drafts for that matter).

Maybe I’m higher on Knight than most, and I look at Dragic as someone who was going to leave for nothing, but I really like what Phoenix did.

I think they did ok. Dragic was as good as gone. Knight is a better player to have at this point. You also open up A LOT of cap room and got 3 1st round picks. Solid day considering their hands were hands were tied with Dragic.

I think the Suns really didn’t get much on purpose. Last year they were supposed to be tanking, but ended up getting the 14th pick, and consequently not much out of it. Now they want to make sure they tank and get "rewarded" for it. I don’t like the concept of tanking because I believe it is unhealthy if it goes on too long. (caugh, Sixers, caugh) But in this case I condone it because I don’t think the Suns will tank that long, just this year.

Then again I guess I don’t really need to condone immediate tanking since I don’t make up the rules for tanking. No one does except for Commisioner Silver. But for me personally, I do condone it since I believe it is an immediate tank not a prolonged tank like the Sixers are doing.

If you are the GM, you should fry for this. Knight is a free agent to be as well. He created this problem by signing Thomas and killing the momentum. This team is right back where it was before they traded Nash, middle of the pack. Sorry but I would rather tank than not have a direction. They need another star, like one that might come from the Lakers pick. Yuck.

Knight is restricted, so Suns will have the right to keep him or do sign and trade

The pick is top 5 protected..you think there’s any way in hell the Lakers are gonna let that pick get to the Suns (now Sixers)? They’re not stupid.

Getting two 1sts (though im sure there’s protections on those) is probably about as good as you were gonna be able to do with Dragic since he left them with absolutely zero leverage to get a decent return.

I dont see why you couldnt just keep Thomas since Dragic is gone anyway, unless he’s been upsetting other people too.

Most important thing for me..am i the only one who’s bothered by the fact that Knight has been a very mediocre, run-of-the-mill guard his whole career until hes up for a new contract? I’m a diehard, lifelong Suns fan and i want to believe its just because hes young and is turning a corner but how often is that the case?

Dragic gone,  or badly overpaid at age 29.

Or Brandon Knight  just 23 YO, the 25th all star this season, (younger than MCW) matched at 60/4 as a RFA.

It’s a no brainer, Thanks McDonough, nobody could have even imagined it.

At 25YO  knight will be better with bledsoe, than dragic was at 28YO without bledsoe…last year.

Knight is clutch, knight will hit 200 threes per seasons, at a 40% clip, great FT shooter too, hustler.

I’ll overpay for a player in his prime…not past his prime.

Then there’s the picks, you lost the sexy lakers pick 2016, lotto pick, no doubt about it, but not necessarily 5-8th if they rebuild quite properly this summer…

You collected 3 1st rounders, i don’t think the the heat will be an absolute powerhouse when/with wade, deng, bosh and dragic reaching 35,32,33 and 31 YO…in 2017.

It seems the 2nd pick is in  2021, at first i saw 2019…2019 could have been better than the 2016 lakers pick.

Don’t forget the cap space generated too, 12,5MD for this summer(thomas-plumlee-zoran and ennis)…you could sign one of the best FA, RFA on the market, match your own RFA knight, sign your own lotto pick in the draft.

And the logjams resolved, 4 PG, 7 guards was ridiculous at first with such a weak frontcourt…

Still a boatload of picks + goodwin and warren in the roster(new windows for them) + bogdanovic the euro stash, cap space, flexibility, tucker as the only 30YO player in the roster.

Sure Brandon Knight, cap space and 3 first is nothing compared to a 1st, a MOFO, a chucker and 3 scrubs.

Suns need to get bigger, longer, tougher, it’s time to adress the PF and SG spot, they’ll just do that this off season.

Suns get the best player of the 35 involved today….plain and simple.

    Cry me a river…like dragic.
