XYRYXParticipantAfter last nights win against my Thunder Dirk is only 20 points shy of getting 30.000 total points as a Mav. He announced the last couple of days that he is going to return for his 20th season barring any major injury to join Kobe as the only player to play 20 seasons with one club.
What a career for the Dirkster already sitting at 6th on the all time scoring list. Wilt is ahead at the 5 with 31.419 points and while I don’t think he will catch him it should be close if he has a healthy season next year. He redefined his position and led the way for today’s bigmen with a never seen before outside game and maybe the most unique move we have seen in the modern era with his one legged fade away jumper.
Always a class act, never any drama and to me along with Duncan the most likeable superstar and the most grounded dude you can imagine in all of pro sports. There will never again be someone like him and how many people have said until his championship run that he will never win anything the way he plays. His championship run in 2011 might also be one of the single best postseason performance in history.
The Mavs play the Lakers next and the Nets the game after.

HitsterParticipantNice post, I flagged up he was nearing this just over 3 weeks ago, now it will go down sometime this week.
Twenty seasons at one team is an amazing feat and says a lot for his loyalty. His skillset was ahead of it’s time, now more bigs have a perimeter and mid range shooting game but Dirk was a trailblazer for this and had to contend with many top class opponents down the years. It makes you wonder what sort of numbers a peal Dirk would put up today, I reckon he’d be pretty near 30ppg for a peak season.

HitsterParticipantDirk achieved it in style with a great cameo against the Lakers, he was hitting his mid range and 3 point shooters as good as in his prime and the poor guy guarding him was given a masterclass lesson.
