Take this with a grain of salt but here are the statistics for Dion / Kyrie through the months of March and April. Dion played in 21 games, where Kyrie played in 14.

Dion Waiters: 33.0 MPG, 19.6ppg, (45.6% FG, 37.8% 3pt) 2.5 RPG, 3.8 APG
Kyrie Irving:   33.3 MPG, 18.5ppg, (44.7% FG, 30.3% 3pt) 4.6 RPG, 4.9 APG

As I said this isn’t the biggest sample size but its quite eye opening. With a pass first PG it would be very interesting to see what kind of numbers Waiters produced.

As a cavs fan I am not worried, I have loved seeing these two guys as of late. I think they are showing they can co-exist.

I actually think Waiters is a good player to play with Kyrie. Most people think the opposite and I think this is because they do not watch cavs games!

Kyrie is never going to be a PG who gets you 10+ assists a game and has the skills the play the 2 guard. With a scoring guard, who has a great shoot and not a pass first guard you need a player like waiters. Waiters has the skills to play PG (I actually think he could if he wanted to). He is able to take control of the ball, run plays and a great passer.

It is just a chemistry thing with two players like that. Time is needed that is all.

So I would stay away from a major trade I like the pieces we have.

However, one major change I want to see made is MIKE BROWN GONE. He is such a bad offensive coach it is beyond a joke.

I don’t get to see a lot of Cavs games but they just don’t seem like a great pairing to me. I’m warming up to Waiters as a player and have been hard on Kyrie this year. They could ultimately work out as a tandem but I see it being a problem ala GS with Steph and Monte. One may need to go for the better player to blossom. Change is needed in Cleveland and too early to give up on Kyrie unless he doesn’t want to stay, IMO. I wouldn’t trade Waiters at this point either. Just add more talent and give it another year or so. They are both young so worth a try but one may need to go before they blossom.

Mike Browns gotta go imo. Im not going to say he cant coach (although many would) I just don’t believe hes the guy for that job.

As in, he starts dribbling too much, lets the defense get set, etc. It doesn’t help that Mike Brown is one of the worst offensive coaches in the game. However, Kyrie’s talent is special and once he realizes that the ball has to be moved in the half court, and to save some of his fancy moves for transition/attacking the basket, he’ll be a much better PG.

Lastly, Kyrie and Dion’s relationship isn’t anywhere near as bad as what the media proclaims it to be. Anyone remember Kyrie and Dion doing a joint press conference recently where they BOTH said they have a great relationship and are sick of the rumors? What about last night when Kyrie said:

"I’ve been a part of this and I want to continue to be a part of this," he said. "We’re making strides in the right direction, especially in this organization. I want to be part of something special, and I want to be part of something special in Cleveland."

 

The media won’t want to publish that story though. It looks too promising for Cleveland, it looks as if he actually wants to be here. 

Look, Dion and Kyrie both have their problems both mentally and on the court. They’re only 22! The Cavs are not close to winning a championship, but two very special talents like Kyrie and Dion can be cornerstone pieces to a championship in the future. Blowing it up and trading one of them for a "Vet" or "Prospect" or whatever doesn’t make much sense unless you’re getting a for-sure piece towards a championship. 

Cleveland needs to hold on to Kyrie, Dion, Spencer Hawes, Anthony Bennett, and even Dellevadova, and then explore trades with anyone else on the roster to upgrade.

– I read they are going to give Deng an modest offer, if they can’t resign him ( which I don’t think they will be able to), then I would try to get a younger sf who can defend and hit the 3 ball. Try to get somebody like Harrison Barnes or some sort.
– I would try to deal Thompson. He cant score outside of the paint that well, he clogs the lane for Irving and Waiters, doesn’t defend well enough to be an offensive liability. I think Bennett can make big strides this off season if he can stay healthy.
– Spencer Hawes was a great fit with they way he was able to stretch the floor and hit over 40% from 3. I like Zeller as a big off the bench, with less minutes than last year he still showed improvement. I dont know if Varejao will be back.
– With the projected 9th pick in the draft I really dont know who they should pick. I guess take bpa.
– I would get rid of Mike Brown, I wish they could get a guy like Kevin Ollie.
