I think a lot of people are down on him because he didn’t have a big summer league. But i can see him having a good year with the Cavs.

I can’t help but be bothered by those shorts/sweats he’s wearing though.

I’m still calling 13,3,2, 28MPG. Not a great year, not a bad year. Development throughout ultimately earning the starting spot by seasons end. Possibly a Marcus Thornton type rookie year.

Well if you remember during the last month of the draft Dion didn’t play any basketball or train considering his agent didn’t want his stock dropping from workouts. He was out of shape because of it and it obviously showed in his summer league debut. I expect to see much more out of Dion then a lot of people are expecting but then again I am a Cavs fan.

I think people are down on him because he was picked too high.  People wouldn’t be as skeptical if he were taken 10-14, like I feel he should have.

I called him a bust early on because of him being out of shape combined with the fact that I didnt like his attitude, but tbh I hope I’m wrong, I want him to succeed.

He wasn’t a starter at Syracuse so to expect him to instantly become a hit in the NBA is a big ask, so this year I’d be looking at him more for development than what stats he might put up or how many minutes he plays. Coach Boeheim will have helped developed him over his two years under his instruction and we know that Cleveland would have done due dilligence on him so they must see something. Plus he has a Head Coach now in Byron Scott who was an SG himself and helped to develop CP3 and is doing likewise with Kyrie Irving, so he could not be in a much better situation.

I doubt Coach Scott rushes him and will only give him the minutes he feels he is ready for. Cleveland are not looking for a one year fix whatever Dan Gilbert may say and will no doubt consider where the team are in two or three years more importantant than what the younger guys do this season.

Waiters went from a Deron Williams build to a Tyreke/Harden type build. His game reminds me so much lke a guy like Harden. Lamb and Barnes are catch and shoot players. Waiters is just as good off the catch and. shoot but can also do something they can’t. Penetrate and dish to Kyrie on the wing for 3.

Kyrie is such a good shooter having Dionpenetrate and open up clean shots is gonna be huge for him too. Kyrie should shoot over %40 from 3 easy this year.

good point! i think Waiters is a better shooter off the dribble as opposite to shoting in catch and shoot situations.

He looks to be in slightly better shape than he was in summer league.

What isn’t seen in this video is Waiters’ tendency to float and drift on his jumper.  He’s not always as balanced on his shot when he’s actually being contested.

Lamb is deadly from midrange hether it be a floateor off the catch. But despite his length and solid ball handling he’s he doesn’t make play on offense or defense. He could of avg more steals rebounds and blocks but didn’t. He doesn’t pass and too often takes long 3s with plenty time left on the clock. Lamb as of now projects to be a NickYoung/ Kevin Martin type player when he peaks.

Terrence Ross has short arms, takes bad shots, and couldn’ti get a talented Washington team into the playoffs. I like Ross but. he’s not a go to guy and projects more lke a a JR Smith type.

Dion Waiters is an underrated passer havng averaged a consisderable. more assists per 40 as well as,,,, less turnovers then erybody u listed. And he can shoot off the dribble is well is not better. then Rivers while being equally adept at shooting off the catch. or spotting up. When u watch the film and compare its these talents you see that made Waiters the 4th pick. I didn’t even mention his ball hawking talent and just look at that body. He’s not fat he’s a pitbull. He’s still only 20 with one of the more mature physiques of any SG in the league.
