OhCanada-ParticipantIt seems like every year there is a Canadian freshman being slept on. This years talent is Dillon Brooks of the Oregon Ducks and the 6’6 205 wing is this years frontrunner for Pac-10 freshman of the year.
Everyone is quick to praise the great play of the Ducks senior guard Joseph Young, and for good reason. Brooks seems to be oversighted and disacknowledged but it will not last long. Conference play will start soon and when he is matched up with Stanley Johnson or Jabari Bird his value will be hard to deny.
Last time Brooks played against Stanley Johnson he dropped 27-points in a blowout loss in the Fiba-U-18 championship game. Brooks led the tournament in scoring similar to another phenomenal freshman Tyler Ennis. He averaged 25-ppg, 6-rpg, 2-apg and 2.6-spg while shooting 62%-fg, 45%-3pt and 78%-ft leading Canada to the Silver Medal.
The latest Canadian Findlay Prep product to make his mark as a freshman DBrookz has a smooth and polished game like Arron Afflalo with a gritty passion and attitude. He is a true Canadian from Mississauga Ontario and has family from out in the boonies of Nova Scotia which is like Canada’s Louisiana.
Brooks is just short of shooting 50%-fg 40%-3pt and 80%-ft with 16-ppg, 6-rpg, and 2-apg early in the campaign.
And next year is Jalen Poysers turn.

TRC1991ParticipantKevon Looney is also having a solid freshman year, and of course Stan Johnson is a beast. Should be a close competition all the way to the finish line!

SkalAndJamalParticipantPac-12 is looking like the best conference in college right now. Arizona is my favorite to win it all this season, Utah(hopefully Loveridge can stay on the court) and Washington are my dark horse favorites for the final four. Oregon, Cal, UCLA, Stanford should all end up in the tourney.

NBAProspectFan1ParticipantThink Montaque Gill-Caesar at Missouri is the better Canadian freshman wing.. Thought he outplayed Stanley Johnson when Missouri played Arizona this year.

OhCanada-ParticipantI like Montaque but his game needs maturing. His shot selection and decision making arent where they need to be at this point. With his athletisism and shooting ability an in between game is also necessary. He needs to find spaces in the mid range and perhaps develop a post game.
