also, dennis rodman and scottie pippen had incredible growth spurts "at around age 20". they may not meet you’re qualifications tho.

on my 17th birthday i was 5’9". 18th i was 5’10". 19th same. 20th i was 5’11". its on my moms wall. im still 5’11". i could provide pics for that, but sadly the league gms are hieghtists and conspired to keep me out of thier league. also lacking skills… but i’m pretty sure im not an extreme example. also those pics are embarrassing.

 Diallo’s game is mainly built on his defensive ability but he has at least a season under Coach Self with the Jayhawks to refine his game and learn a few go to scoring moves. His highlight reels are mainly all dunks though to be fair I’ve seen a few decent passes on there and he knows how to move a ball about reasonably.

We don’t expect PF/C’s to be LBJ type ball carriers or have a CP3 pass range and court vision but they should all know how to move a ball on and not be a liability when the ball comes to them in open court.

I always had the fun vision of JaVale McGee catching a rebound and stood there in a daze trying to figure out what to do next. When he was traded and Nene came in, who was nowhere the sort of defensive player JaVale could have been. John Wall could not believe it when he had a frontcourt guy who he could reliably pass the ball too without fear of it ending up in row J and who just did the simple things well. It made a great deal of difference to Wall as he didn’t have to worry about who had the ball in a passing build up and knew if he gave the ball to Nene, he’d at worse get it back.

Nene wasn’t being used as a playmaker, just he was competent to be given ther ball to move it forward or if he got a defensive rebound. He’d make a perecentage pass to move the ball to Wall, Beal etc or to someone to eventually get the ball to Wall.

I know he is highly acclaimed, but Ellis, Traylor, and Lucas made Cliff Alexander push for minutes last year. Alexander was raw too, but probably more developed than Diallo. I don’t think is it unreasonable to project, provided he is cleared by the NCAA, that he is a 15-20 minute per game guy and maybe sometimes less.

 He’s not like either.  Not sure why these 2 names were used as comparisons.  Is it because they’re all African?  He’s a good athlete in terms of speed (changing ends) and agility (lateral movement and quick 2nd/3rd jumps) but he’s not as vertically explosive or as long as Ibaka.  He doesn’t have Biyombo’s natural body strength or length either.  He’s got a better motor and nose for the ball than Ibaka at the same stage (better 2nd/3rd jumper too) and he’s not nearly as crude as Biyombo is offensively. He’s raw, but not crude.  Unlike prospect stage Biyombo, he actually looks like he’s touched a basketball before

Faried’s the closest comparison out of the names mentioned in this thread.  He’s pretty much just a high energy, hustle player ATM.  I do think he has more defensive potential with his greater length and better instincts, so hopefully he doesn’t become a negative on that end like Faried.  Energy and effort is great on defense, but mindless effort is not.  Hopefully the game slows down mentally for him so he can be a positive on that end because I’m not sure he’ll ever be that great offensively outside of hustle plays and finishes.
