gatorheelsParticipantWatching the Louisville @ West Virginia game. It is now halftime.
Devin Ebanks- He just constantly jogs around at a slow speed on offense. It is like he is just constantly thinking "ok where should i go, what am I supposed to do?". It is good to see him being active but he has to learn to move with a purpose. You rarely see him make a violent cut to the basket or come off a ball screen moving quickly. Honestly a lot of times Ebanks is clearly just getting in the way on offense. He is also just too soft in the post. Does he ever finish after contact? Ebanks has made a few good passes in the 1st half. He also made a midrange jumper at the very end of the 1st half. That is about all I can say good about him though.
On defense Ebanks has been OK. He can guard the perimeter pretty well. However, as a post defender he gets abused.
Ebanks needs to step up in the 2nd half. This is a tough game, if West Virginia wants to win they are going to need more from Ebanks.
He isn’t even remotely close to being NBA ready. He definitely needs to wait until 2011 to enter the draft at the earliest.
Halftime: Louisville 44 West Virginia 40
In other news: Peyton Siva for Louisville has played well. This is the best I’ve seen him play all season. He has hit three 3’s so far. A couple of them where from DEEP range. Plus he got fouled on one of the 3’s & still made it.

chrislebronParticipanthe is 2/8 from the field, but has 9 boards and 4 assists,2 minutes before the game ends
he is very talented but somehow he just can put it all together, better to stay another year to get better(he should vastly improve his shooting-12% from the 3 this year, its terrible)
i think that his teammate d.butler is an old school player, underrated, because he lacks elite athletism(could be a useful nba role player)0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/30/2010 - 9:16am #251777

JNixonParticipantPeyton Siva is one of my favorite players in college. He’s going to be a good prospect for 2011 or 2012. He’s playing great today.
Edgar Sosa has to step up. He’s a clutch player, but sometimes it seems like he lacks leadership. Some games would be easier for them to win if Sosa just organizes the team and gets them the ball in good spots. Tougher than it sounds, because he’s not a true PG.
I completely forgot about Ebanks. He’s been doing a disappearing act. He’s blended in to me. Da’Sean Butler has been great though. He’s a pretty good little scorer.
This was my 1st time paying attention to Kevin Jones, and he’s solid. He got a good in between game

gatorheelsParticipant2nd Half Report:
Pretty much more of the same from Ebanks. He looked totally uninterested in the game for the most part. He did finally show some emotion when he made a layup & got fouled in the process at the end of the game. During timeouts while Coach Huggins was screaming Ebanks was just constantly looking into the crowds paying zero attention. If Ebanks had more meat on his bones he would’ve easily grabbed several more rebounds. He got overpowered quite a bit.
In case Coach Huggins is listening: Anytime Devin Ebanks is bringing the ball up against full court pressure it is likely going to result in a turnover. Just letting you know haha
I’ll go ahead & say it: I think Kevin Jones has surpassed Devin Ebanks as the better NBA prospect. Both need to go back to school though.
Da’sean Butler completely carried West Virginia.
Final Score: West Virginia 77 Louisville 74 Tough loss for Louisville. I felt that Louisville outplayed West Virginia this game.
Taking a look at Louisville: What is going on with the Cardinals? Sosa, Jerry Smith, & Delk are all Seniors. Louisville’s roster next season doesn’t look good. The reason I bring this up is because Pitinio only has 1 recruit so far for next season & he is only a 2 star recruit. I figured Louisville would reload. What is the reason Louisville wasn’t able to get any big time recruits? Maybe it has to do with the scandal Pintino was involved in. Pitino could possibly have a few tricks up his sleeve & may land a few key recruits last minute.
Peton Siva is going to develop into a great PG for Louisville.

DanEboyParticipantI had him as my pre-season player of the year. I don’t know what seems to be his problem but he has not lived up to expectations. He is too passive and seems almost lazy at times. I would take Turner anyday over Ebanks.

butidonthavemoneyYeah, in the preseason I was trying to figure out who the best wing player in the draft would be, Turner or Ebanks. I was a bit off-base…

scoutguruParticipantPlayer of the year…that was over the top. But yeah I caught a lot of flack for saying that this guy was just simply not ready. That doesn’t mean that he’s not good and will never be ready, he’s just not ready right now. It’s not a bad thing guys, he’s only a sophomore, with plenty of more time to work on his game. Don’t worry i’m sure huggins will get all out of this guy as possible in his time @ WVU. Intensity needs to increase, ball handling needs to get better, this will help his ability to break down slower big men who guard him at times, and allow his midrange pull up game to excel, as his midrange jumper is really his bread and butter offensively. Really has a chance to be good, but must put the work in. Let’s just be patient, stop forcing and making yourselves believe that guys are ready when in actuality they’re far from it.

butidonthavemoneyOn a positive note, he made a great decision to come back to school after last season.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI have been saying all of these things since he played his first game this year…

HotFudgeParticipantIt’s his mentality and confidence. When he gets into the game mentally, he destroys teams. Look what he did to Seton Hall and Marquette. He had 22 points & 19 rebounds in one, and 19 points & 9 rebounds in the other. He has the tools, but not the mindset.
