Weeks ago, us fans would laugh if you suggested the Pistons could make the playoffs this season. We were all hoping for a high draft pick.

Pistons starting out 5-23, but since the cancer has been removed, a nice 6 win streak (inluding over the Spurs) has moved their record to 11-23 and are now only 4 games behind the Heat who have the 8th seed.

Do you think the Pistons could actually make the playoffs ? 6th seed Bucks are at 500.

The Pistons would have to go 30-18 to get to 500.

 Detroit have won every game since moving out Josh Smith, if they keep that up they could make the playoffs and have homecourt advantage for at least a couple of rounds.  

Just pick one of Nets, Bucks or Heat to drop out and the Pistons should be in.  The Bucks have problems, the Nets have injuries, the Heat really should be better than they are.  

Drummond and Monroe, not only do they have the inside size to beat teams now but in the playoffs they could cause some problems as playoff games are even more in the paint.

Pistons have a lot of tough road games in March, but they might have three games against the 76ers and play the Knicks in the last game of the season, Pistons might be in the playoffs if they don’t move Monroe for a draft pick at the deadline because he wants out.

 Hopefully Stan Van Gundy and Greg Monroe can work something out now that Smith is out of the picture. Monroe is a talented young player who Detroit should want to keep around for a while, and he has a nice chemistry with Andre Drummond.

 I had them in the playoffs at the beginning of the year (as i did last year haha). But it looks like its been addition by subtraction waiving Josh Smtih. Drummonds numbers have been incredible since then and so has Jennings. Smith created a ton of empty possesions, and although i was a Josh Smith supporter at one point I now know that he is an official knucklehead.

Everytime I watch J Smoove play, I just say "why are you shooting that? go inside youre so quick in the post and you cant hit threes at a high clip at all, and long twos" (which houston hates a lot btw)

 Nets are out I feel. I really thought the Hornets would get their sh*t together and still make it to the 8th seed by I think Detroit has it on locks as of now. 6-8 are between Bucks, Heat and Pistons with the Nets also having some chance to make it.

 Jennings’ finally bought into himself of being taught the game. That’s a gigantic leap of belief he took within himself to openly acknowledge his biggest flaw as a professional starting point guard. Once one openly acknowledges their own flaw, it gives no leverage for anyone to use the flaw against them. I’m rooting for him to turn it around still. $30 plus million to go away seemed like an unreal proposition, but the team seems to be transformed. The Spurs game on the road carries weight. The first five were against a banged up Indiana, Cleveland without Irving, Orlando, New York, and Sacramento. Brandon Jennings has gone from having his career fall off a cliff to having as good a run of form since the start of his rookie year. In these 6 games, 20.2 points, 50.5 percent from the field, 5.8 assists, 2.0 turnovers, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 27 minutes per game. Andre Drummond is playing like the young Stan Van Gundy-coached Dwight Howard. Greg Monroe has been empowered to play like Greg Monroe, which can only help the Piston cause in trying to keep him next summer. Jodie Meeks was probably going to get into his regular season form regardless, but certainly his shooting ability helps. D.J. Augustine has played better as well. One would have to believe that the streaky nature of Jennings and Augustine will continue. Even if they continue to play smarter, it is likely they will shoot the team out of a game or two. Still, it seems amazing that showing Josh Smith the door has created a completely different environment on that team, and certainly is making Stan Van Gundy look as good as has ever looked. The run will end, and probably tonight given that they are in Dallas on a back-to-back, but things look up. They are young enough and have enough games against bad Eastern Conference teams to get a long-term buy-in to what Van Gundy wants to build that did not appear to have a chance of getting a few weeks ago.
