TRC1991ParticipantHere are some of my ideas for the Pistons to help their franchise…
1) I know Dumars said he wont do it, but the firing of coach John Kuester would give the community and franchise a fresh start and I know he didn’t bond well with the vets on the team
2) Let Tayshaun Prince walk…I know he has been a solid player for them his entire career, but hes getting up there in age and its time for the Pistons to go with the youth movement…Plus, his 11 mil coming off the books allows them to make some moves this offseason
3) Re-sign Rodney Stuckey…A lot of people think hes not a natural 1 and I agree, hes a 2-guard but hes a young guy who plays tough, has a lot of talent and under the right tutelage, can be a nice building block (possible contract of 5 years/40 mil)
4) Trade Rip Hamilton…There are a few contenders out there who could use Rip…He’s a former NBA champion, and has the ability to get you 16 and 4 if hes inspired…Not saying this is a perfect fit but here is a trade idea:
Utah gets: Rip Hamilton and Terrico White
Detroit gets: Mehmet Okur, Raja Bell, and a 2012 2nd round draft pick
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3mumds4
Why do this trade? Okur’s 9 mil will come off the books next year and also provides them with a decent big man who can score the ball, also Bell is a tough perimeter defender
5) Let T-Mac, Chris Wilcox, and Dajuan Summers walk…none are in their future plans
6) Re-Sign Jonas Jerebko to a 4 year/20 mil contract
7) Draft Kemba Walker 7th in the NBA draft, and take Vernon Macklin 33rd
8) Sign Jamario Moon to a 3 yr/9 mil contract, and Carlos Arroyo to a 2 year/4 mil contract
New Squad
PG- Kemba Walker / Will Bynum / Carlos Arroyo
SG- Rodney Stuckey / Ben Gordon / Raja Bell
SF- Jonas Jerebko / Jamario Moon / Austin Daye
PF- Greg Monroe / Charlie Villanueva / Jason Maxiell
C- Mehmet Okur / Ben Wallace / Vernon Macklin
Head Coach: Mike Brown

HitsterParticipantDetroit have a lot of guys who tend to be on the bench but make starters money and you can almost swap the bench for the starters which Coach Kuester seemed to do. I think the coach does need to go as there were a number of incidents and it looked like he lost the locker room. With Stuckley if you resign him then I feel you have to move either Gordon or Hamilton. My fun idea would be a possible trade with the Knicks might somehow be able to be worked and Detroit gets Billups back to provide leadership and perhaps mentor a young PG. I would not like to say whst the details might be but the Knicks might pick up some nice assets if they took Hamilton and or Gordon. I’ve always seen Gordon as a perfect D’Antoni type player from the bench.
Kemba Walker would be a nice pick but an undersized PG alongside Stuckley or Gordon would be a defensive liability. I agree that Prince perhaps moves on and gets a role player position with a contender and likewise T-Mac.
Dumars has to draft well and would surely love to get a lottery pick to add a quality young piece alongside Monroe and his young SF’s.

esperanzafleet69Participantliving in detroit, i definately dont think kuester was the problem… they needed to give minutes out to people that rip was taking up..
chris wilcox is definately a keeper, at how cheap he is i just dont see how you couldnt possibly want to keep him…
they do have to let tayshaun go and trade rip, but definately not for the turkish tornado and raja bell… they can definately get better value than that… or at least more cap space and not have to pay raja bell for another year.
and depending on how the draft goes, im not so sure if resigning rodney would be such a great idea… hes going to want a lot of money and dumars will probably be stupid enough to let him have it…
i guess all this really pans out to how the lottery goes tho, because if they have a chance to get kyrie or williams these plans definately change…

r377Participanton paper the pistons look better than their record. rip and prince when motivated can still be quality players. the problem starts with joe dumars – i loved him as a player but signing gordon and charlie v to long contracts has killed us. the coach needs to go, when players join up and don’t come to shoot around you know you have a problem

kobyzParticipanti made a plan for Detroit Off-Season…
if i’m the Pistons i definitely want Prince to stay, he still has in him at least 3-4 quality years, he just had his best season scoring wise and imo played quite well this year even with the circumstances, if you want to build a winning team Prince is a great piece at SF position with his all-around game, defense and leadership.
in the draft of course must go for a big, a center, it could be Jonas Valanciunas or Bismack Biyombo.
then remain to worry about the backcourt, where has big problem there, you have to think what to do with the players who don’t quite fit together right now but there his some talent, this is what i would do: we know Stuckey his very talanted but better suite for the two guard, we know Ben Gordon most effective as a six man and Richard Hamilton just doesn’t fit with all of that, so my idea is to make a trade Richard Hamilton for Baron Davis, both players with about the same contract so both teams can only benefit from this trade, as for the Cavs, they very thin at SG position and already has Ramon Sessions and also with their two high lottery pick they definitely going to get valuable PG(Kyrie Irving, Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker) so it make a lot of sense, as for Pistons, Baron Davis still can play in a high level when he want to, he is more of a pure PG and facilitator and better match to play next to Stuckey and Gordon, generally i don’t see how you can lose from this trade, for both teams.
concerning the rotation i would make Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva players who come of the bench and by this to create a strong second unite, i think it’s the best way to produce from them the most.
so what you think? this is my 2011/2012 Detroit Pistons:
Baron Davis/Tracy McGrady/Will Bynum
Rodney Stuckey/Ben Gordon/Terrico White
Tayshaun Prince/Jonas Jerebko/Austin Daye/Dajuan Summers
Greg Monroe/Charlie Villanueva/Jason Maxiell
(Jonas Valanciunas/Bismack Biyombo)/Ben Wallace/Chris Wilcox0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/13/2011 - 4:04am #544040
williebarney123ParticipantHere’s what the Pistons need to do this off-season:
Re-Sign Chris Wilcox, Rodney Stuckey, DaJuan Summers, and Jonas Jerebko
Let Big Ben retire
Draft Keith Benson and Isaiah Thomas
Sign Troy Murphy and Jamario Moon from Free Agency
Trade Rip and Austin Daye to Chicago for Luol Deng, CJ Watson, and a second round pick in 2012
Trade Charlie Villanueva, Jason Maxiell, and our #8 pick for Andrew Bynum and their 2012 1st pick
Hire Bill Laimbeer as Coach
Depth Chart:
Bynum/Watson/Thomas
Stuckey/Gordon/White
Deng/Moon/Summers
Monroe/Jerebko/Murphy
Bynum/Wilcox/Benson
