I call the ’08 class my boys because I’ve watched them since 8th grade (Since OJ and Bill came to my high school, NCH). So I had no other choice, but to pay attention to D. Rose, Beasley, Love, Bayless, even younger classmen like BJ and Lance. I’m saying this to show yall I’m not biased at all to any of them. I consider myself a basketball fan first and a fan of basketball second (meaning “players”). So what I say might offend some, but its gots to be done.

D. Rose? Seriously? Why is EVERYONE (I mean EVERYONE) saying he’s a surefire star. I understand numbers aren’t everything (I’m normally the first to state that), but that’s how great players are measured. The difference from 20 points and 25 isn’t big to me, now 15 to 20 is… Same with 5 dimes and 10… Its like you have average the BARE minimum to be known as elite and D. Rose isn’t doing that for me. I’ve ALWAYS said Derrick isn’t a “Pure” PG and I think its going to be very rare to see him averaging anywhere close to 10 assists. I just don’t see how EVERYONE see him as the SUREFIRE elite in that draft class, especially when there is someone in OKC playing better, Memphis, and LA… Sheesh Beasley is averaging the same amount as him and alot of people are saying he’s going to be a bust….

What gives?

Keep in mind D. Rose is one of my favorite players…

I agree with you on certain points. Rose did way better than I thought he would as a rook, but there’s something about his game that leads me to believe we’re basically looking at the player he’s gonna be. I mean he’ll refine certain parts of his game and get a little better in certain areas, but I have a feeling he’s pretty much gonna stay a 15 and 7 guy for his career.

Im just playing with ya. Yeah I do disagree though, Id say we just give him time to heal so he can start his breakout this year or next, his first few games this year have been suspect but he is injured, He was amazing his rookie year, And I doubt with all that potential that he just doesn’t get any better.

He’ll be a dominant player no doubt about it…I’m not sure he’ll be THE best PG in basketball, but he has a chance to revolutionize the position as he’s the 1st PG who’s that big, fast and athletic at the same time. He’s a freak of nature physically, and I have a hard time seeing him not getting much better. He’s not a 10 assist kind of PG, but you’ll come away thinking he made his team better. I never determine who’s a PG by the amount of assists they average a game, it’s about how they run the offense and make teammates better.

That’s retarded. Baron Davis is [was] bigger, stronger and more ahletic. So was Steve Francis. There’s been quite a few lead guards that have/had a similar skill set. Rose is basically a more athletic Rod Strickland. He might make a couple of all-star games, but saying he’ll revolutionize the position is one of the dumbest things ever written on this site.

i wouldnt say he is gonna revoultionize the position..only magic did that and penny. i do think hes gonna be pretty damn good though..and westbrook does all those same things that you said rose does except his a lil taller and a much better defender.

so actually talking about WEstbrook I agree with both Iggy and quincey, WEstbrook is even little bigger, but however after traditional pgs in Kidd Nash and not true pgs in Marbury Francis Baron now we will have all in one size strength scoring passing athleticism speed in Rose Westbrook Wall..just Jennings is another young pg who could be in the same level with not being that “new generation’s” but he is also nothing like typical PG

i agree whiteflash..i think people have short term memory as far as the nba..its very rare you have a guy the nba hasnt seen before…lebron would be one and shaq since both were so big yet athletic for there size…and a magic johnson…

Exactly. Dr. J revolutionized the game. Jordan revolutionized the game. Magic revol… Ya’ll get the point. Shaq is a genetic anamoly, and so is LBJ as you pointed out. Those guys are once in a generation [if that] players whose legends will live forever. Rose is an athletic point guard who can’t shoot and doesn’t have a killer instinct. Those guys are a dime a dozen.
