 I am blown away by the current mock…. can anyone explain how Denzel is a 2nd rounder and Grayson Allan is at 14?  Dont get me wrong, I like Grayson’s game and athletisism but I find he disappears against better comp.  Denzel is the man making MSU tick and at any point will put a triple double on you.  If I’m looking for a 2 guard after the lotto, Denzel is that guy. If this site i right on him falling that far I dont see how the Spurs dont take him at the end of the first.

Denzel is a can’t miss prospect in my eyes. He is an excellent 3 point shooter, high level facilitator and great rebounder. Plus he can play PG through PF in my opinion. Maybe the site admin has been ignoring the triple double spartan.

I agree that this site has is wrong with him in the second round, but I think that they will end up changing that when it gets closer to draft time. Mid first round seems like a good projection for him right now. He just does so many things well for him to drop much lower then that. Teams are not going to want another Draymond Green type player fall to the second round again.

 As Neophyte pointed out, with the success of Draymond Green no way are teams not looking at Denzel thinking he could be the next big thing out of MSU.. unless he falls off a cliff in the second half of the year or has absolutely horrendous pre draft interviews and workouts I don’t see a scenario he drops out of the first round, and if MSU make a deep tourney run, I wouldn’t be surprised seeing his name called in the lottery.

I’d take Patrick McCaw from UNLV over him.. Timothe Luwawu’s hit a bit of a rough stretch with his shooting, if he can return to his early season form, I’d definetly take him over Valentine too.

Valentine could probably go as high as 10 and as low as 20.  I am not sure he goes lower than that.  Solid, all around wing players are guys you can stick in a starting lineup right away or use off the bench as a 6th man or utility rotation guy.

To me, the draft looks like Ben Simmons at 1.  Brandon Ingram at 2.  My next few guys are (in some order) include Poetl, Buddy Hield, some of those other freshmen including Jaylen Brown, Jamal Murray, Skal, and then Sabonis who has been around at least a couple of years.  

After those guys are off the board then you start looking at guys like Valentine, Grayson Allen, and Selden.

I haven’t seen 20 players better than him in college this year. I’m not a paid scout or anything, Im guessing he doesn’t test out well athletically which is holding him back, but the kid can flat out plat. Sometimes you have to take that over athletic ability.

The injury is going to really test MSU going into conference play.  We might really see how valuable Denzel is to the #1 team out there.  Also get a chance to see what Spartan can step up and fill the void.

I’ve watched a few games of Denzel Valentine. Well coached, good IQ and feel for the game. He plays with control and maturity. He is an excellent passer and is a good shooter from inside and outside. As a college player he is outstanding, one of the best in the nation.

I just wonder how is he going to go at the next level ? What position does he play ?

He isn’t heaps fast or athletic, isn’t a great defender. He is not fast enough to play PG. No way could he keep in front of John Wall or Russell Westbrook. I don’t think he is big enough to play SF. 6″4.5 without shoes and about 6″6 in shoes. He has a good wingspan, he might be able to play SF in small ball lineups. Is he an NBA SG ? I dont’ know if I can see him running around coming off picks, catch and shoot on a 3. He doesn’t get much vert on his jumpshot, he almost shoots it flat footed. He also looks to make the pass, not really having that true SG selfish shooting mentality.

He reminds me a bit of Evan Turner.
