laarethekingsParticipantWho here thinks they had one of if not the best drafts? Just looking at there team they set themselves up for key players leaving. Now not putting them into a spot where they have to over pay to keep some of there FA. Only one they might have to pay to keep is Nene…
Faried is perfect for this team. They were number one in scoring last so they don’t need that. But this guy brings everything else you need… REB, Motor, Tough etc…
Hamilton can replace Chandler when he leaves in FA. There about the same size… Hamilton can shoot the ball and knows how to score. Gallo can start at the 3 and Hamilton can back him up.
If the Nuggets can resign Nene they be very good for a long time to come…
Starting five of Lawson, Afflalo, Gallo, Faried and Nene
Bench five of Miller, Smith, Hamilton, Harrington, Anderson
Mozgov as the 11th player and they could sign K Mart on the fly for very little.
This team is crazy deep!

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI definitely see J.R. Smith leaving, not because he might want to start but because a contender like the Bulls will also be after his services. But agreed, they got good value for Felton who was drastically underutilized anyways.

Knicksboy3ParticipantCrazy deep, but lack the star to truly matter. That’s why they lost last season. When the game goes to the end, they don’t have a legit player to put the ball in the basket.

NCarmean18ParticipantIf you want to win a championship, you need good players, but you do not necessarily need a star. The reason we were eliminated early last year is because we had nobody who called play defense on Kevin Durant. The dude is tall and has a very good reach, and nobody could pressure him. With Faried, even 3" shorter, I think he could do it. He always is up for challenges and gives 120% each and every night. Even though he’s a rookie he’s already probably our best defensive player and will look forward to attempting to shut down K.D.
As far as the star player goes, sure, it’d be nice to have one, but it’s not a necessity. Remember the 2004 NBA finals? The Detroit Pistons team of then was a team without a true star, and still killed the heavily favorited L.A. Lakers team in 5 games. If you have a variety of players capable of putting up 20 points on any given night, then a true star isn’t always the key. Ask the Cavaliers, they know all about needing more than just a star. Lawson, Afflalo, Gallo, Nene, and Jordan Hamilton are all capable of putting up 20 points a night, so I think the Nuggets will be alright.

ghrghrParticipant^^ Sorry to say this man, but Keneth Faried won’t guard wings. Even if he did, he won’t be able to guard Durant anytime soon. Durant is taller and has a freakishly huge wingspan. He has more experience and is way faster and more skilled.
Faried isn’t a perimeter defense specialist and even a guy like Chris Singleton, who everyone says will be a lockdown defender, won’t be able to shut down a star in the league before gaining some experience.
Detroit proved you can win without a star, as the showtime Lakers proved you can win playing a fast paced game. Thats one team without a true star and one team that ran with the ball who won titles in recent NBA history. I still think its safer to have a star, play D and have a strong halfcourt game if you want to win a ring.
And that Detroit team played great D, which Denver doesn’t.

laarethekingsParticipantsymbol how do you know that? Please let me in? You know what Nene is thinking? Or do you know how the Nuggets feel about JR Smith? Please hook me up!

jaycee24Participantthe nuggets definitely are putting themselves in the position to be a legit contender, but I can’t believe they’re done with the rebulding process they’ve so quickly started. I’m pretty sure they realize they won’t win a title with the current squad they have. Maybe It’s best if Nene and Smith leave anyways

aamir543ParticipantYeah, this team is a 20ppg scorer away from being a 60 win team. Do you put it all on the line and take a gamble on Brandon Roy’s knees………..
I would. This team they have now is extremely exciting, but lets face it, unless Lawson becomes a 18 and 8, and Gallo gives them 20 a night, as well as improved defense, and they would need Nene to stay and give them 16 and 8, Smith to stay adn give them 14, as well as Chandler to give them 14 as well, and them Miller to get them double figures, and Harrington to get them double figures as well.
Wow, I realized how deep they really were when I typed that last paragraph, and I didn’t even mention K Mart, Birdman, and the two guys who have a lot of potential, Jordan Hamilton and Mozogv. Wow. If they an keep everyone, and get everyone to improve, I really like their chances. Scratch what I said about needing B Roy. They just need to focus on getting better, and wow, I even forgot to mention Faried! Watch our for this team, they will be very dangerous. I predict half a decade of classic OKC, Denver, and Memphis clashes.

GottaBeTheShoesParticipantWe can get a starting Center in free agency if we can’t get nene. I think if we can get Chandler back he will replace Smith and Hamilton can help fill a role. Don’t feel like the nuggets are screwed if they don’t get Nene back or even smith back. They are both replacable. Tyson Chandler would be nice but I don’t know how hard that would be to do. Jason Richardson would also be a solid option.
