He deserves it no doubt. Best rebounder ever as well as one of the best defenders to ever play the game. Won 5 championships. Great player, but no way in hell does he get into the Hall of fame. Do u think Stern would let the guy in now that he is on his second season of CELEBRITY REHAB?? Hello no!! It’s a damn shame though because he really deserves it

He deserves to be in the Hall but he wont because of the way he is percieved by the writers they didnt like him much with all of his antics and stuff like that I wish players would go in because of the things that they do on the court or the field and not other things but it doesnt always happen that way.

That looks like a resume worthy of the HOF to me. He had two seasons that he averaged OVER 18 rebounds per game (18.7 and 18.3) with 6 offensive rebounds both seasons (6.4 and 5.9)! A career 13 rebound per game average … 15.5 rebounds per game starting with the 90-91 season!

They’ll never let him in because he’s … a bit different to say the least … but as a basketball player, his production was definatly HOF worthy!

He deserves a spot in the Hall..Guy was a unique talent..I mean dude played defense & rebounded like his life depended on it..Lead the NBA in rebounds 7 straight years..All Defensive 1st Team 7 times.. Two seasons in a row he averaged 18 rebounds a game ..1 of the best offensive rebounders in NBA history..And Defensive Player of the Year twice..5 time Champion..2 Time AllStar..He might’ve been able to have played until he was 44..But his strange behavior, careless attitude, reckless lifestyle and outrageous on & off the court antics..He really wore out his welcome with just about everyone,G.M’s,Owners,the Media and Fans…That might be the thing that holds him back from getting into the Hall..

This is the basketball hall of fame we’re talking about, not the hall of fame of good character because if that were the case Dennis Rodman would not get in. Though, we’re talking about whether or not Dennis Rodman should be in the basketball hall of fame, and I believe he should. To me he was the best rebounder in the 90s, he played like he was 7’0″. Imagine if he was actually 7’0″ I bet the teams he played on could run a 4 guard offense with him because he was such a great rebounder.

Dennis Rodman may have been the best rebounder in the 90s. And he was probably the best rebounder for a guy his size, but only during that era.. But please, he wasn’t even close to being the NBA’s greatest all time rebounder.

The two best all time rebounders by far were Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Then throw in Bob Petit, Jerry Lucas, and Wes Unseld into the mix and now we’re talking about great rebounders. By the way, Wes Unseld was a 6 ft 8 inch center who couldn’t jump six inches off the ground.

Once you get past those five guys, then you can start talking about Dennis Rodman.

knicksfan7, nothing I said above was a knock on Rodman who was a fantastic rebounder and defender. I agree with the guys who said he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

However, somebody above said Rodman may be the greatest rebounder in NBA history so I’m merely trying to keep his rebounding stats in perspective. Rodman was terrific in the 90’s but way behind some of the all time greats when it came to rebounding. Wilt and Bill Russell both averaged over 22 rpg while Rodman averaged around 13 per game.

In fact, there were several guys who were better rebounders than Rodman. That list includes Bob Petit, Jerry Lucas, and Wes Unseld along with a few others.

Arman, that’s an interesting question that we cannot possibly answer. I always say you can only judge players against their peers and by the era when they were in their prime.

Even though today’s players are better athletes and in better condition, I don’t think that would matter very much for Wilt and Russell. If I had to guess, I would say both Bill Russell and Wilt would lead the league in rebounding and probably average around 20 per game. But obviously that’s pure speculation.

No knock on B. Russell or W. Chamberlain but they played in an era where there were not many 7 footers in the league most of the guys they played against were physical mismatches against those two that was one of the major reasons they dominated the glass they are still great players but Rodman was listed at 6ft 8 I think he was more like 6ft 6 and he was grabbing rebounds like a 7 footer and he was also playing defense against some of the best big men at the time I remember he had to guard shaq and that was when shaq was good and he held him in check and really frustrated him. I am not saying that Rodman is better than either one of them because he isnt but he dominated the glass like no other for like a 10 year period against superior competition. And I dont believe either one of them would average more than 13 rebounds in today’s game no way they woule average 20 RPG in today’s game.
