Has 14 points and 8 assists against UNC

Averaging 15 pts and 7.7 asts a game which is second in the nation.

Where would you put him in terms of point guard prospects.

Honestly with his ideal size and vision, along with a nice stroke, I put him at 2 right behind Kyrie Irving, he impressed me last year in the NIT and is doing so again tonight against UNC.

he is easily 2 in my books. He should get drafted pretty high, I could actually see him maybe going as high as 15 to Cleveland.

I’m thinking he can be a guy who could climb into the 20-25 range or slip to the 35-40 range, kind of what happened toTerrico White and Armon Johnson last season, a large range of where I think McCarney can go at this point.  That being said, I think he can play pro ball for sure, but although he hasn’t played a game I wouldn’t rank him above Josh Selby.

what more does this guy have to do, 20-25 seems low IMO. He has all the intangibles, he knows when to shoot, he knows when to pass. You can tell he has a passion for the game and a willingness to win.

I think if he continues to show he’s smart and can shoot the ball well he could sneak into the lottery.

I’ll have to see Selby play before I rank him above McCamey but I agree he could be a point guard that could be better.

I would rank him way above players like Knight and Walker in terms of being a point guard.

I don’t doubt his willingness to win or his ability, but when your are a mid first rounder most teams lean towards the best players available.  I think it’d take a team who really wanted a point guard or a team that really narrowed it down to him in the interview process for him to go top 20.  I’m not saying it can’t happen, I just dont think it will.

I also think Selby will be a more attractive pick, based on the current trends alone.  Youth goes a long way, look at Xavier Henry and James Anderson last year.  Anderson was the better collegiate hands down, had good size intangables, but Henry was the younger guy who tested well.  Right or wrong, thats just what goes on.  I think Selby before McCamey.

I just think McCamey is a better fit for a championship team than Selby. All these young talented PG’s are good but to win a championship you need to control tempo and know when to shoot or know when to pass. McCamey seems like that kinda guy, like an older Chauncey Billups, than can control a team.

Hey, I agree with you there man, back to my earlier reference.  James Anderson was getting good minutes and producing for the Spurs who are a legit contender, while Henry was and is struggling to do anything other than shoot 3’s for the Grizz.

I was way higher on Anderson than I was on Henry last year, but thats just how the draft has been going the past few years since players can’t come out of HS anymore.

My analysis of where McCamey would go is more based on the system.

I base my evaluations of players on the mold of a championship team. PG’s on championship teams usually differ to their players but can score when their in a slump and have good character, also being older is a good thing for a PG. That’s why I don’t see guys like Westbrook and Rose as being "great" as they don’t fit that mold. I just like players who play a specific role and fit into what I think a championship mold is, I just feel McCamey fits that prototypical mold more than younger guys like Knight and Selby who more resemble Westbrook and Rose.

Well, here is where I disagree with you.  Rose is a very mature player who has stated his loyalty to his team and has a monster work ethic and Westbrook gets better every year.  A star player who is a point can most definately lead a team to a title.  I wouldn’t put money against Rose or Westbrook leading a team to a title before their career is over.

Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas lead their teams to titles, I know the more recent "mold" has played into teams with elite swingmen (Phil Jackson’s triangle offense that has won the lions share of the NBA titles the past 10 years) and that offense doesn’t need an elite point guard to be effective.

I don’t understand how you can see McCamey is more fit to lead a team to the title than 2 top 8 current NBA point guards.

I see Mccamey as a late first round pick because to me he is more of a back up point guard.  He is very similar to frank williams so it depends on the team he goes to.

I really like this kids game. He does kinda remind me of Dwill at the same stage. I think He’s gonna be a very good pro. Very high basketball IQ as well as being a straight baller with very good court vision
