JNixonParticipantI see Andre Miller when I watch him play.
But you have to like the loss of weight, he’s got more of a burst than he previously did. He looks really good off the dribble now (which is good, he’s always been a nice creator off the bounce) and he’s shown decent shooting ability. He’s always been aggressive, but now he has the quickness and handle to get his shots off at this level. And you add the fact that he looks really good driving and dishing, and he always has his head up, and you have to like what you see out of him as a PG prospect.
I will say this though, McCamey plays a gambling style on D and sometimes is sluggish on ball. He has to get back to playing fundamental on D.

hiphopismylifeParticipantA part of me hates to make the Deron Williams but I do consider him a less explosive version. He is more dynamic off the dribble than an Andre Miller in my opinion. Hes got really nice handles but hes gotten more efficient with his handle and with an improved burst can blow by guys with one or two moves similar to Williams.
I’ve loved Demetri since high school. The only question with him has always been his attitude. The incidents with Bruce Pearl last year will hurt him come draft night. You can deal with that from a guy at any position except for your pg. I love his game though and hope he can lead this team and right the ship to become a first-rounder.

delfamParticipantI was at MSG last night and i was pretty impressed, he was in foul trouble in the first half and still managed a quiet 20 points. He really reminds me of Deron Williams. Knows when to pass and he knows when to score, really good decision making. He also showed good range on his jumper hitting a couple of 3’s from NBA range.
The only thing is his defense wasn’t very good. At the end of the game Bruce Webber was subbing in Richmond on defeense for McCamey then subbed him back on offense. If he can improve and guard NBA PG’s he’s going to be a pretty good PG in the NBA.

boxn1ParticipantHe is a good guard, more of a combo guard than a pg, but he runs the offense, passes, and leads, you know what you are going to get most games. If he gets back to being the shooter he was as a sophmore he has a shot to sneak into the end of the first rd, but he is a draftable player for sure.

ilike.panochasParticipantIm pretty high on McCamey, I think he is a legit 1st round prospect and he kinda reminds me of Jarret Jack.
And @ boxn1 you couldn’t be more wrong. McCamey is not a combo guard, he is a legit PG, and was 2nd in the nation in Assist last season, and with one more year of experience he could possibly lead the nation in assist this season. Hes one of the best passing PG in the country, I dont know how you got the idea of him being a combo guard.

scoutguruParticipantIggy he has deep range tho, and I think this is where he differs from Miller cause Miller looks really uncomfortable (and ugly to be frank) taking shots outside of 15 ft. McCamey has the ability to launch it from anywhere man, of the dribble and spotting up. It looks effortless coming outta his hand, as he shoots it the same with out needing extra stregnth to get it up there. He should be a guy who translates to the league, he’s the total package as a point. Super tight ball handling, great vision…passing guys open, good decision maker in the pick and roll, solid defender, can adequately guard his position, and some of his defensive laspes is just a matter of focus, not necessarily ineptitude. He won’t be a guy who’s gonna shut down guards, (then again, who can really stop any of the elite pg’s at the next level) but he’ll be ok using his thick frame to stay in front of guys. There’s really nothing not to like, unless scouts nit-pick, as they usually do with seniors. He projects to me as a starting guard at the next level, maybe not immediately, but with due time. I like Ron Harper has my comparison for him. Harper was a big pg, who was real solid and Demitri reminds me of him a lot… Really love watching the way he’s improved every year
