balltilifall5ParticipantI have seen DeMarre play on television many times, and although he is a great player to have on your team, his skill set and sign just don’t seem to align with a first round pick IMO. Could anyone give me some insight and also who is a player you would compare DeMarre to.?

xbadgerhustlerParticipantHustle player… you can never go wrong grabbing a good team guy who puts in the effort at the end of the first round, IMO

McWinningParticipanthell be a solid player i dont think hell be a starter but he can be a decent backup.

Knicksboy34Participantto be honest…I thought he was a poor version of Dennis Rodman. I think he will be a Garbage Man who grabs rebounds and defends the 3 and 4 spots.

grizz32ParticipantI don’t know who to compare him to but I will tell you what he has. Carroll will hustle until he dies, he has outstanding energy, his defense is impressive, and the dude has heart. I really like him and Grizzlie fans will start to love him. I think Thorpe has him 13 or 14 on the best rookies.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI’d compare him to Hakim Warrick, just cuz he’s lanky and all over the place…

MagikKnickParticipantYeah, i didnt think he was a 1st rounder either, but hes a real hustle player, does the dirty work, every team would like somebody like him

xbadgerhustlerParticipantHe’s like Hakim Warrick’s Body + Mark Madsen’s heart…

MagikKnickParticipantNice…Hakim Warrick is a great comparison, imo

grizz32Participantno ofense but he is nothing like Hakim. Hakim never passed the ball, horrible on D, and didn’t hustle alot except when he showed off a dunk.

gatorheelsParticipantMemphis is going to try to play him at the SF position. I just don’t see him doing that well there. I think he is better using his quickness around the basket at the PF spot. He isn’t great at anything at least from what I saw from him in college except he hustles & has a nonstop motor. Is that worth a 1st round pick?…probably not. The problem is he is undersized for PF & not skilled enough for SF. I would compare Carroll to somebody like Jeff Green or Boris Diaw. Carroll isn’t as good of a scorer as Green is though.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantFair enough, that was more in reference to his body type… I haven’t watched a lot of Warrick in the pros, but I do remember him hustling to block Michael Lee’s shot to seal the victory over Kansas in the Championship game!
I think Warrick’s hustle was more a product of standing around in the 2-3 Defense. Also, Hakim kinda bounces around like a pogo-stick, which is all I ever saw of Carroll

JNixonParticipantHe is alot like Renaldo Balkman to me, and no its not because they both have dreads. They play with the same intensity, have limited NBA level offensive skill, always come out of nowhere to get athletic steals and rebounds, and shouldve have been taken in the 1st round. He is a player, but he would be better suited on a rugged contender IMO.
