More and more I’m impressed by him..
Why you guys are so low on him??? Yes he is still playing against smaller players but he is playing next to Mr.Patt who wants to grab every rebound in defense and get lots of touches in offense, and DeMarcus still DOMINATING.
27min!! 27pts18rebs a few games ago, after this every game he played just around 20minutes and still avg 15and8! and how about last night, Patterson still played well but DeMarcus…look at this 17min!!!!24pts10rebs2blks.
in first 7games he’s averaging just 20.0min and 16.1ppg 8.6rpg 2.6bpg..we can say anything but already in this season he looks like The next dominating freshman.

him on defense? The guy puts little to no effort on this side of the ball. His stats might look good, but who has UK played this year. I’ve watched UK play every game this year and DeMarcus just puts no effort into his defense. I want to see DeMarcus go up against guys who our over 6’8 and have some sort of basketball skill set! Up til now DeMarcus hasn’t had to play any team that would challenge UK down low.

everyone know it. and this is it? Beasley gets drafted #2 with big defense problems, and NBA coaches and GMs loves word “potential” with his crazy rebounding and blocking some good coaches could turn him into big force in D.

Have you seen DeMarcus shoot from outside 10 ft? He can’t score from outside 10 ft right now and his attitude is something that needs to be addressed. Again his rebounding numbers are against inferior opponents. Of all the teams UK has played, maybe a few guys were over 6’8 and all the teams they faced aren’t exactly tough opponents. Stanford was UK’s best opponent so far and DeMarcus went 13 and 5. He has all the tools, but can he put it all together, time will tell!

I’m not sure there is a whole lot of upside with this guy. I do think he is very good, but this guy doesnt exactly possess breathtaking athletic ability. The guy is almost 6-11 and it sometimes appears as if it takes every ounce of energy he has to turn and dunk sometimes.

I think Cousins will have some slightly exagerated numbers all season due in large part because he will be facing teams 2nd best post defender as Patterson will get the top dog every night. SO, I think his numbers will end up being pretty good, he’ll declare early, someone will take him in the mid to late first round and he’ll play in the leagur for about 6 years or so

He kinda reminds me of Randolph Morris in many ways. I think he is in a great situation playing for Calipari a man who puts freshman out there. I wonder what Cousins would be doing if he played for say North Carolina. Would he be even getting any PT? I like his game. I think he will be a solid NBA Center but I don’t know if I see superstar potential with him. I could see him being a Chris Kaman type which is pretty good but will he be in the Dwight Howard category? I don’t think so as of right now.

you cant get to impressed when they haven’t played any one and haven’t played any good big man yet. the real test are starting to come up and thats when you can get excited about him if he does the same thing against other good big men. after his comment last night

Cousins was asked about North Carolina (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP). The Tar Heels visit Rupp Arena on Saturday.

“I’m not impressed,” Cousins said with a shrug of his shoulders.

he better back it up because d.thompson is no joke

Haha Cousins better watch his mouth.  This is going to be a huge step up in competition for Kentucky especially in the post.  Carolina by far has the most talented & biggest frontcourt that Kentucky has seen all year long.  I think Cousins will really struggle this game.  I have a feeling he is going to get in foul trouble.  I wonder if Cousisns will guard Ed Davis or Thompson?  Either way he is going to get worked lol.  I do think Kentucky will win though.  Should be a close game but UK has too much talent in the backcourt.

I’ve seen him just a little this season so I may not be the best judge right now, but I think he has a little Eddy Curry in him. I’d like to see how he defends against solid big men.

He’ll be playing UNC and I’m going to guess he’ll he guarding Ed Davis while Pat gurads Thopmas. Let’s not forget, UNC has about five 7 footers on their team. He’ll have to be guarding someone at least 7 foot at all team. Deon Thompson is listed at 6’8 but he’ll be too strong for Cousin.

His next test will be against Uconn. Uconn is known for thier big men. This year their Big men are not as tall but their a lot faster and mobile.

These two games will determine if Cousin is worth a lottery pick or not.

UNC has plenty of bigs and they are all very fast. There is no way he can match up with those guys in transition.

i mean cousins isn’t real fast but hes not real slow either. and unc isn’t the suns. uk actually runs more then unc does so i think he will be ok in that aspect. hes no slower then d.thompson. if he plays well against unc and then uconn then i will be impressed. especially uconn whos team is know for defense and blocking shots (8 straight years leading the nation)

He might be alright against Thompson, but probably not Zeller or Davis. I’m a little anti-Cousins right now. He just seems lazy and arrogant.

On offense I agree. Zeller is better suited as a weak side or help defender, while Thompson has the strength to keep Cousins from getting position in the post.

    DeMarcus Cousins=Mareese Speights.

And to whoever said he can’t function outside of 10 ft, yes he can, he hasn’t shown it because had a tendency in HS to hang around the perimeter too much for someone his size. You had to know that he wouldn’t play like that with a good coach like Calipari though.

With that said, I think Cousins will struggle against UNC’s frontline, and I also think UNC will win the game. I don’t think Kentucky is as good as everyone (including me) thought they would be, and they will be exposed against UNC. I think Kentucky loses by 10.

I’m not sure about the Speights comparison. Cousins doesn’t seem to have the same explosiveness.

Cousins is a good college big man, but the UNC game will be his first real test. UNC is long and athletic, but UK back will give UNC big trouble, if the Orangemens back did.

Rico I think it’s not just big test it will be the BIGGEST test for him maybe this season, so i wouldn’t be so surprised if he won’t get 20/10..but i think many ppl will give some hate him it he won’t play very good.
