tyrekeevansParticipantWhile it’s not time to panic, whatever DeMarcus Cousins did to get kicked out of practice isn’t the kind of stuff the Kings want to see from their prized rookie. Kings coach Paul Westphal wouldn’t say if Cousins mouthed off or what action led to the move. He said it was a decision to help Cousins continue to "develop." MkadozaParticipantSo much for Cousins maturity issues being a thing of the past. I still cant believe people thought he should be the #2 overall pick.

stanford hoopsThey did a lil write up on that on espn or cnnsi before. Surprisingly alot of rookies get in trouble and kicked out of practice for talking back, being late, attitudes, etc but it never gets out. Kobe was one who used to talk back alot, nick van exal, stackhouse just to name a few. I’m sure cousins will grow out of it just like the other rookies did

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI heard Cousins was kicked out becuz he failed to follow his defensive assignments..Cousins reportly complained of having a cold and not feeling well…Thats why he said he was sluggish in practice..

Mr. 19134ParticipantCousins or Favors should of been the number two pick. As a Sixers fan on draft night I’m screaming for Cousins. But in hindsight if we could do that draft over I think there is no doubt that Favors goes second. Either Favors or Cousins. Favors is the safer choice not as much because of attitude as much because of defense. I can’t ever see Cousins being a great defensive player but I can see Favors becoming one.

jaysmith1987ParticipantDerrick Favors has definately been worth his selection and better in the pros than college alot of post players have to deal with clogged lanes in college that limits there affectiveness maybe thats why he has been more successful in the pros.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYes you are right about the clogged lanes thing in college. And he played on a team with a bunch of ball hogs who didn’t get him the ball. It’s amazing that even on the Nets he is averaging 7 and 6 which doesn’t seem like much untill you factor in that he is only playing like 19 minutes a game and that is for the slowest paced team in the NBA. The Nets ranks dead last in both PPG and also Possessions Per Game. If he played for another team that gave him like 25 minutes you are probably looking at a double double guy in his rookie year.

GrandmamaParticipantI’m just wondering where are all the pre-season Cousins nut huggers? The ones saying he should be the number one overall pick. The ones saying he was the most "NBA ready" of any prospect in the draft. The ones saying he would average 18 and 12 and win rookie of the year. He has shown zero ability to play defense or to stay out of foul trouble. Still standing by my Eddy Curry 2.0 prediction.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI was a preseason Cousins nut hugger and thought he should of been probably the hands down second pick. Him or Favors I was extremely torn between the two until workouts started up and I was hearing more and more that Cousins was not only in better shape then expected but was shooting lights out too. I knew he could score in the post at will and pass, but I didn’t know he was as good a shooter as he is. But my theory was when you got 2 big men with the potential of Favors and Cousins I don’t know how you don’t think about drafting them at the top. Big men like Favors and Cousins are hard to find. They are 2 men who will make an impact in the post. I’m a huge Perry Jones fan but he isn’t built like Favors who could easily start at center. And i like Sullinger but he don’t got a 7’6 wingspan.
Cousins is going to be alright. He is still only 20 years old and posses more talent in the post already then almost every big man in the league but like 5. Cousins problem is he is for some reason starting to fall in love with his outside shot instead of taking it inside. And he can’t stay out of foul trouble. And he will never be a good defender but he will get turnovers.
I don’t think he is Eddy Curry 2.0 you’re talking about a guy who had no pride. Cousins got pride. He won’t ever let himself become like Curry. I’m not saying Cousins is a lock to stay in the best shape or play defense, but he is a lock to compete on the court.

MkadozaParticipantHe’s also a lock to foul out of half the games he plays in. He’s like a stronger, and no offense, dumber Kevin Love. They have a remarkably similar skills set.
And dont mistake pride with drive. Pride can be a reason some players dont practice (See Iverson, Allen). He’s remarkably talented, but you can see in his physique and conditioning he doesnt put the time in the gym he should.

doubledribblerParticipantThe thing with guys that have a bunch of issues is that some never get them straightened out. The ones that do usually have it straightened out maybe after they have bounced around to a handful of teams. The guy does show he has real talent though. His talent is hard to deny as far as where he got picked and he could have realistically been picked higher. He’s a skilled player, with great size, hands and feet and he has a lot of potential. His risk is more of a mental thing. It still blows my mind that when you look at what Bledsoe, Wall and Cousins have done so far in their rookie year that Calipari couldn’t take that team all the way. Of course you also have Patterson who is just stuck on a deep veteran team and Orton who despite not playing in college still gets drafted first round by a team that has a franchise center and a guy seen as one of the better bigs not starting in the league, so they must see something in him.

MkadozaParticipantI dont blame Calipari at all for Kentucky’s loss. Did you see the game? The were flat outplayed the second half. The frosh were making stupid mistakes, turning the ball over, and making terrible defensive rotations.
