IknoBall12Participanti was wrong. When he came out of college I talked so much sh*t and made post and comments about how this guy wouldn’t ever sniff the NBA and how he couldn’t play there. I am not ashamed to admit that I was wrong. Even though he’s only a backup on the cavs the kid is tough and makes good plays out there. The team has pretty much got stacked now with more guard talent but he deserves a spot in this league. Respect

llperezI doubt he lasts very long in the nba, just don’t see anything else that good about him. I don’t watch a ton of cav games though but I did watch him a lot at gonzaga. Remember former zag Dan dickau had a solid start as well but is now a broadcaster.

nick5354ParticipantI have made several posts about Delly before, but I just want to say it again, he is one of my favourite NBA player.
He is the ultimate team player, is a GREAT defender. He makes up for his limited athletic ability (especially on defence) through his high basketball IQ, timing, grit and effort.
He was never a highly sought after player, a late bloomer and really had to work his butt off to get where he is atm (not to say other players do it easy).
He is also a sought of old school playmaker, no flash or highlights but just a dude who works and works everytime he is on the court.
If he keeps working on that 3 ball (which is much much improved) and especially offense other than the 3 then he will become a much better player.
However, I think he will have a long carer just due to his defence, work ethic and high IQ.
I haven’t got to watch too many Cavs games with the new trades, but he often finishes games just because you can trust the guy to do his but for the team.

agentoaktreeParticipantAussie’s always seem to find a way to stick around in the League in recent years. The man is skilled anda plays hard, and is a very smart pick and roll table. An underrated aspect of his game in my opinion is his strength, I occasionaly see him get caught defending a P&R and hold his own bodying up a big. I actually regularly listen to a couple Australian basketball podcasts and find them to be both insightful and humurous. I remember an interview from the podcast Grizz and Tizz with "Delly" (as they affectionately call him) which has a living room couch type of feel (think BS report) http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/mammoth-audio/grizz-tizz-from-way-downtown/e/63-matthew-dellavedova-36011290

ChoppyParticipantRespect to the OP. Usually on here you get people saying how they were right about some obscure prospect or that they predicted that some player would be a star, but you almost never hear someone admit they were wrong. Props to you!

JoeWolf1I think he has staying power. He’s a two position player, plays the pick and roll game well, he’s shooting over 40% from downtown, and has a 3.13 Assist to TO ratio for a contending team. Even if he’s not part of Cleveland’s plan going forward, I think he’ll have an easy time finding a team that would want his service.
I think he’s a career reserve, but he does a lot of things that work well in the NBA game. Kind of like Brian Roberts, but Delly was lucky enough to not have to duke it out in Europe before getting his chance. I think he’ll have a career.
I’ve always thought he had potential in the NBA style game.

llperezyeah, wrote gonzaga down mistakenly. Im not hating on the guy, wish him the best, i just dont think he is going to have a long stay in the league. hes just in a great situatiopn on a team that doesnt need much. He averages 4 points and shooting 35% in 20 minutes, you might get away with that on the cavs for a few years becasue they have so many great players, but eventually someone will come and take your roster spot.
