fito91ParticipantNot sure if there’s a similar thread, but ESPN had an article about this at the end of Novmeber, and I’m curious to see what you guys think about these two and who you would rather have?

Lawrence112ParticipantAs far as who is the better college player? Kaminsky. Who is the better prospect? Kaminsky probably but I don’t think either will be great NBA players.

ChewyParticipantKaminsky is clearly the better college player. He is a 7 foot match up problem and early top 5 prospect for the Wooden Award.
But, I think Dekker will translate better to the NBA. I’m not sure Frank is strong enough to rebound in the No Boys Allowed league. Dekker on the other hand has grown at least 2 inches since arriving at Wisc. As a 6’7 wing I’d say his chances were poor (even as a MDAA) but at 6’9-6’10 he has the size to be a great role player.
Dekker doesn’t shoot it well enough, dribble it well enough or defend well enough… but he also isn’t terrible at those things either. The definition of a jack of all trades glue guy at the NBA level.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI truly believe that since teams like the Spurs and the Warriors show that ball movement and smart passing is more important than athleticism and one-on-one moves smart players like Dekker and Kaminksy will become more popular. The biggest issue is on defense, were they have to be able to keep their man in front of them (Dekker) or defend the rim (Kaminksy).
Having said that I believe Dekker will have the biggest issues on defense. He isn’t very quick laterally so him defending SFs will be really difficult. I you see him more as a stretch-four I believe he will be killed on the inside by bruising PFs every game. Kaminksy might also lack some lateral quickness but at least I believe he is strong enough to hold is own. His biggest selling point is legitimate 3pt range which will draw the opposing C out (like Frye can as well) and thus create room for others to finish at the rim.
Ultimately both players are smart players, willing passers and good shooters that have some issues on D. Whoever you believe will function best on D will have the brightest future, which at this moment I believe is Kaminksy.
