CavsFan07ParticipantAccording to Woj.. (I will post the link when it comes up)
Thoughts? Where does he land?
Had a terrific tournament and does have potential. Near the end of the 1st seems like a realistic landing spot.

HaleParticipantBig loss for U-Conn. He would’ve been huge for the next year and one of the reasons I had them pegged as a preseason top 10 team. I like Daniels game a lot and think he’s a first rounder. Anywhere after 20 I could see him being picked because he’s long, fluid and can shoot. If he can put on some weight and work on his handle he should be really good. I wish he was coming back because it’d give him another year to put on weight and prepare himself but I can see why he left.

WetalkinboutpracticeParticipantI don’t think he has Jackson’s ball skills though. Daniels finished his three year college career with more total steals (62) than assists (52).
To me Trevor Ariza is a more fitting comparison for the versatile forward.

Memphis MadnessParticipantHe can hit the 3 and rebound. I like him at 22 for the Grizz if Cleanthony Early is off the board.
He could be the next Robert Horry. Indeed, Daniels’ stats as junior are very close to Horry’s stats as a sophomore.
Robert Horry (sophomore): 13.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 1.54 steals, 1.46 blocks, .467 FG%, .760 FT%, and .427 3PT%.
DeAndre Daniels (junior): 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.4 blocks, .469 FG%, .787 FT%, and .417 3PT%.
As a junior, Horry’s scoring went down to 11.9 points with his FG and FT percentages declining to .449 and .337. (steals down to 1.19) with his rebounds going up to 8.1, assists going up to 1.8, and blocks surging to 2.4 (FT% upped to .804).
… Daniels’ Final Four averages were 14 points, 8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks.

TRC1991ParticipantExcellent skill-set, high bball IQ, I think he’s going to be a later bloomer but will be a definite steal towards the latter part of the 1st round. I expect a Mike Scott (8 and 3) type impact by his 2nd season

I’d rather have him on my team then McDermit.
He has the athleticism to actually guard some one, his length and foot speed/work allow him to defend bigger players or stay in front of and disrupt passes.
I’d take him low round 1 over wasting a low lottery on Doug,

The QParticipantI see a classic tweener (and sorry, not a high BB IQ).
He’s too frail for 4s, doesn’t have the athleticism to play the 3. He really lacks most of the ball skills to play the 3 besides his 3 ball.
I love Daniels and am so thankful for what he did this year (they basically made up for 2006 or 09 when UConn was clearly the best team in the country and lost), but I’m not seeing a great NBA future for him.

HomerKangParticipantI agree that he’s gonna be near the end of the 1st round, but boy, what a steal for the team that picks him. Kinda like a young Boris Diaw or Cedric Cebalos.

HomerKangParticipantAND, the fact that he came out also just made what was already a very very deep draft even deeper. Truly can’t wait till draft night.
