User: "Mamadou" made a comparison that DeAndre Bembry is very comparable to Josh Childress. Hint – it’s not only because of the hair.

Here’s his "analyst" to why it’s a great comparison:

"Highest PT of all the first round prospects, that’s a fact, it even helped you to determine he can do it all besides shoots.

Some 18-28 min frosh in that draft are actually badly downgraded while they are already very productive as 18-19YO…

That’s his context, he is an old junior, he’s the man, he plays 38 mins with some scrub guards, and it will help his draft stock more than the NBA player he will be.

Both were juniors, hustlers more than defenders, SG/SF, pretty skinny(not strong at the NBA level), funky shooting mechanic, crafty, playmaker, ball handler, cutter, runner, good on the open floor, yeah nothing else in common. "

The description he made in the last paragraph can be described as almost any wing player in the NBA that can’t shoot. That description seems like Evan Turner and Lance Stevenson. And a lot of the stuff Childress is not. He is as good of a playmaker as Bembry at Stanford. And a huge difference between the skinny part is that Childress have a very skinny frame (197), Bembry(207) does not. Very great analyst in that they are both were juniors when they entered the NBA.

Also, he is good not because of the minutes that he plays and that he’s a junior, it’s because he is a pretty good basketball player. Been that way since he was a freshman. He’s also good not because of the competition he plays against, but because of his transitional skill set in this league.

You are way off base with your analysis. And if you want to see the entire thread, he you go….. http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/denzel-valentine-v-deandre-bemby
