I know when we get closer to draft time, threads like this will become more common but I havent seen one in a long time so here is mine for the top 10 of the current Mock Draft on the site.

1. Anthony Davis – Marcus Camby – I keep hearing about his versatilty but I have yet to see much of it.. He is a very fluid athlete and he can catch a lob.. Also, he can block some shots.. What else?? Rebound?? Maybe.. I havent see him do anything on offense but dunk and he is a very very skinny player.. Camby has made being skinny work and he has been very good despite his limited offense.  Can Davis do the same thing?? 

2. Andre Drumond – Serge Ibaka – Looks like a great athlete with a big body.  Strong and fluid but limited offense and often looks uncomfortable on offense.  Has a decent mid range shot and isnt very impressive with his back to the basket. 

3. Harrison Barnes – Joe Johnson – A versatile forward who has the best jumper around.  Smooth and poised is the best way to describe his game.  Not fantastic at anything but his mid range jumper, but he is good at everything.. Solid handle and decent at making the right pass.  His true stregnth lies in his abiltiy to score from anywhere on the floor.. His killer instinct is questioned, just like Joe Johnson’s.  Personally, I think he is the kid of player that every team in the league needs and I think he is the #1 pick.. Just me though..

4. Thomas Robinson – Amare Stoudemire – He is super explosive and has a high motor.  At 6’9 with that wing span and explosiveness, he is the ideal PF in the league.  I think he will rebound better than Amare but he is in that mold and has the exact same build.

5. Jeremy Lamb – Richard Hamilton – Lamb doenst get to the line much and isnt fantastic at creating his shot off the dribble, however, that is likely to improve.  He is long and is a promising SG.  Nice range and shooting stroke and a pretty good defender too.  Hamilton is what he be if he doenst get much better. He can be Rip in the league right now..

6. Arnett Moultrie – Josh Smith (Less Defense) – A great athelte with some range on his jumper and a high motor.  Looks like a guard when he runs and jumps but has the stregnth of a much bigger players.  Could pan out to be more of a true PF than Josh Smith is but he has ability to be a super versitle PF ala Smith.

7. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – Andre Iguadala – Great defender and works harder than anyone in the Nation. Versatile and powerful with his movements.  He can do everything in basketball but he struggles with range on his jumper.  IDK if he will ever be the Point/Forward that Iggy is but he has the tools.  His work ethic alone is enough to get him drafted in the lottery.

8. Jared Sullinger – Al Jefferson – Great with his back to the basket and is a relentless rebounder.  Looks really good with his back to the basket and is strong enough to be able to defend other bigs by pushing them off the block.  He has lots of post moves and has a decent jumper.

9. Brad Beal – Eric Gordon – A small guard with the a knack for scoring.  Great shooter but that is not the limit of his ability. Great defender and a surprisingly good defender.  Moves well without the ball but is good with the ball in his hands too. If he gets with the right team, where he can play a role of a catch and shoot player untill he develops further, he could end up being very very good.

10. Perry Jones – Johnathan Bender – Lots of people see a great player but I see a player who is happy trying to be Kevin Durant. With his size and ability, he could be a terror as a PF but will probably spend most of his career trying to prove that he is a 3. Often settles for jumpers from outside his range and doesnt put much emphasis on rebounding.. Bender could have been terrific but never got to see his potiental reached.. I am scared the same will be said of Perry Jones.

 Some of these are really good comparisons, but I disagree with a few.

Drummond is very raw, but his body and athleticism doesn’t compare with Ibaka. More like a young Stoudemire when he had his explosive leaping ability and had not yet developed his jumper.

Moultrie has a higher motor than Josh but does not have his explosiveness or raw ability.

Kidd-Gilchrist does not have the overall skill that Igoudala had coming out of college. He is not as good of a ballhandler or passer.

Moultrie is a 6’11 low-post player. Not sure how Josh Smith compares. Honestly, he sounds a lot to me like Jordan Hill.

Davis is very comfortable with the ball in his hands, you just never get to see it in Calipari’s offense. He reminds me of a more polished version of Joakim Noah…another guy who was super-skinny coming into the NBA.

Drummond is a better passer from the post than Ibaka will ever be. Teams clog the paint and double him, he will easily be the best player in this draft when the floor opens up more at the next level

Who said anything about "deadly accurate?"  I said they were deadly comparisons.  And honesely, I havnet seen Moultrie play much.. Once actually.. Meh, so I am off on 1 out of 10.. What about he other 9??

Like future scout said, I think Robinson compares a lot more to Josh Smith. I really don’t see Amare in him at all.

On a side note, I’d say Bender’s carreer was more of  disapointment due to injuries than not having the heart to reach his full ability. Maybe I’m off on this cuz I was real young during his "prime" so my statement is more so off of articles and interviews I have read over time.

Yeah.. He destroyed his knees… However, he tried to be Kevin Durant before Durant was a big time player.. He was a 7′ player that hated to be on the inside..

But yeah, he was a guy that lost his career to his knees..

Nobody really wins with a comparison thread.. You can have 8 right out of 10 and you will get killed for the 2 you had wrong.. But, I knew that going in… However, didnt stop me.. LoL.. If anything, it teaches me about the players that I dont know much about..

but I think Jeremy Lamb, if put solely at the point could reach Penny Hardaway status. This is a comparison if he reaches his peak, which could be a McGrady and Hardaway cross. What about Sullinger as Zach Randolph, a short PF who has excellent touch and feel for the game, a relentless poster upper, but cant block shots.

He was a phenom and lost his career to injuries, but his game was poisoned my his love of jumpers before the serious injuries. Durant is always at or among the leaders in free throws and that would never be the case for Bender with or without injuries.

 The Drummond and Barnes ones aren’t very good. I don’t see much Ibaka in Drummond and Johnson is a far better handler and passer then Barnes is, not even close. I think the Thomas Robinson and MKG ones are solid, but Robinson won’t ever be close to as good as Amare and MKG isn’t as skilled as Iggy but they are still fair comparisons.

I don’t watch much of Lamb or Moultrie so I won’t comment on those.

As far as Barnes-Johnson goes, I see this one to an extent. I think Barnes is a slightly better pure scorer and maybe a better athlete but with a lot less handle than JJ.

I’d say Davis is a lot like Steve Nash. Of course, he’s taller, thiner, plays more inside, blocs and rebounds more, doesn’t see the floor as well, cannot shoot or handle like Nash and is a better defender, but no comparison is perfect.

Or maybe a mix between Milicic and TJ Ford? Yeah, that’s more like it, definitely.

I’ve just realized Davis is the PERFECT copy of Costas Sloukas (hey, by the way, I don’t see Costas on nbadraft.net’s mock! WTF?).

 The comparisons aren’t bad they are very well thought out.  If you just read a scouting profile and saw Drummonds stats you might think he was a freak big guy who can defend, block shots, and dunk.  But Drummond’s full skill set is massive.  Drummond might have more raw skill then Davis got.  My biggest concern with Drummond is he’s too nice I need to see a mean streak with both Drummond and Perry Jones.  Although Gay, Bosh, Aldridge, and Iggy are all guys who came into the NBA with the reputation of being too unselfish or floaters and they all have turned into great players in this league.

I’ve been watching Perry Jones since he arrived at Baylor and I realized I can watch his games for free online so I just wanna say that Perry Jones III is neither soft nor does he shy away from contact underneath.  Jones III is gonna flourish in the more open NBA style.  Baylor doesn’t do the best job of feeding Perry.  Often times this year Pierre Jackson, whose playing great, will hog the ball.  Baylor has a lot of players that like to shoot, and PJ3 is too unselfish to start hogging.  But Jones can score inside our outside.  He has nice post moves using his length, and in the mid range game he does a great job of getting off shots anytime he wants.  He also weighs about 235 right now.  Bender never weighed more then 200 lbs flat.

Brad Beal can be compared to Eric Gordon, but Gordon was a better shooter, ball handler, and just all around athlete at the same age.

Barnes does remind me of Joe Johnson a lot.  Joe Johnson wasn’t always a point forward in fact he played PF a lot in college.  They both have similar games and high BB IQ.

You’re underrating Anthony Davis a lot and I don’t understand why.  He does compare to Marcus Camby, although I’ve saw Camby play since John Caliprari coached him at UMass and he was never able to grab a defensive rebound and then push the ball starting a fast break.  Anthony Davis is going to be a better scorer in the league as a rookie then Camby ever was.

somebody said lamb could be a penny or tmac type and people gave postive points are you kidding  lamb is not in the class no matter if he plays point or off gaurd rip hamilton is good comparison and i feel like he is super overrated. id take a few other wings over him

 I’ve thought rookie Amare Stoudamire is a close comparison to where Thomas Robinson is now.  I’ve been reluctant to voice this because I didn’t want to sound too much like a homer.  Amare plays so differently than he did back then, but if T-Rob ever gets an automatic 15 footer then he could be really scary.  

If he doesn’t he could be very similar to that 13 ppg 9 rpg player Amare was when he first came into the league.
