I saw this article on ESPN which appears David Stern calling Dell Demps a "lousy" gm with regard to how he has handled the Pelicans/Hornets franchise all the way from the vetoed Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. Additionally, David Stern also appears to threaten Dell Demps that he might lose Anthony Davis once he goes on Free Agency. Personally, these comments were unecessary and doesn’t make a lot of sense right now. Pels are playing pretty well right now as a team. What do you guys make up on these comments?

shocked to hear these comments from stern, very low blow to criticize demps and talk about davis leaving. Also stern wasnt even close to the full details of the trade citing just kevin martin luis scola and "something else i dont remember". That something else was lamar odom, goran dragic and a pick, all of whom were solid players at the time. Kinda missed a few pieces there stern. And good on the hornets for clapping back and talking about its nice to move forward under commisioner adam silver.

This has always been how I pictured David Stern..He seems so smug. I think he has a point about Demps tho…

stern has always been this way. he has said worse to owners even. he just does not filter what he says. and i dont think he cares to be honest. and he is not totally wrong about demps.

The funny thing is Dell Demps made a better deal for Chris Paul than David Stern.

In Demps deal the then Hornets would have received: Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Lamar Odom, Goran Dragic, and a first round pick from the Knicks.

Stern’s deal the then Hornets got: Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Faroq Aminu, and a first round pick that was used on Austin Rivers.

In a unsuspecting way sterns deal worked out the best for them in the long run because they were so bad the following season that they lucked into the number one pick and took Anthony Davis.

However, I don’t think there is any question that the original deal would’ve netted them a far better return for Paul.

You make a good point there. They would have been too competitive if the first deal went through and probably wouldn’t have gotten Anthony Davis.

Office play favorites & it almost definitely shows the Commish office seeks to influence the operations of individual organizations b/c of personal resentments

Now, to many of us – prob most of us – I just made a "Duh No Ish U really think so statement" But there are fans & media who Still insist that the Lawyers & Ex Lawyers running the NBA are willing to leave a Multi-Billion dollar Corporation to operate by Chance & just have a whatever happens happens attitude

I don’t even have a problem that Stern feels this way – he is Human & no matter what business you are in there are some people who are complete morons – especially when this much money is involved & Franchises are Legacy owned – so inevitably Trust Fund Adults who could not run an Ice Cream truck are running these Billion $$$ organizations

So Stern’s feelings are natural – but under No circumstances should he verbalize those sentiments in the Press b/c it undermines the Franchise & it is incredibly unprofessional & Stern knows this b/c was a Big part of a team in the Commish office that did a Miraculous job of pulling the NBA back from the brink of extinction in the 70’s (Stern began working w/ the NBA in min 1960’s & became Commish in 1984)

Obviously the NBA "turn around" was mainly the emergence the human freak show Dr. J who was not just what appeared to be the next level of athletic Evolution but the Doctor was a Class Act who spoke better than most College Professors – I can tell you as a member of the black community who experienced the pain of the stereo-types used to wipe out the NBA how incredibly Proud we all were to be represented by Julius Erving & of course in the 1980’s Magic & Bird – 2 of the Greatest Super Stars who Ever played in Any Pro American sports taking over as the center pieces of 2 NBA Royalty teams on opposite coasts in Huge Metropolitan cities

However, the League office consolidating a ubiquitous messaging & imagery & David Stern was involved w/ all that on the ground floor – so Stern just can not say these type of things – b/c it’s just not neccessary – no good can come of it.
