i am tired of hearing how unfair was not to be selected in the all star game

for me the guy is an average player,a role player that on a good team, he would come of the bench as a sixth man at best
its a shame for a team like the the knicks,their best player to be david lee, an undersized forward-center at 6-8 who has no perimeter game and plays no d.
no wonder why the knicks are one of the worst teams in the league
of course,d.walsh is a smart guy who know all this and thats why he didnt sign him to a contract extension
lets not forget also that he plays in his contract year so wait the next seasons his averages to fall

and please when we compare gasol or nowitzki with david lee is like comparing kobe or lebron to jr rider and harold miner

Hes 6’9 not 6’8. And no perimeter game? Have you watched him play at all this year? Obviously not. THe dude has been really good from 17-18 feet all year. Hes a rebounding machine, and he had 2 games in a row last week where he was 1 assist away from a triple double. So dont give me this “average” crap.

Lee’s a good player. In my opinion he made a strong case for the All Star team this year and he had a decent one last year. The guy works hard on his game. I hate the Knicks, but that guy brings it every game. He sucks at D, but again on a good team, he would be playing at his natural 4 spot. The Knicks didn’t sign him long term because he wanted more money and they didn’t want to tie up money for next year. I would love to have a guy like him on my team but I don’t want him getting paid over 8 million a year either.

i didnt think he had a perimeter game either but have seen him play a few times this year and has mae a significant improvement on his mid range game. Again, he is a snub statistically but when you factor in the coaches obviously rewarded winning, he isn’t that big of a snub. But you can’t question his hard work ethic. And no he wouldn’t be putting up the numbers he is on a good team, but i think is numbers would be comparabled to horford’s if lee was on the hawks. i would rather have horford on a team but lee isn’t a bad player by any means.

I watch most of the NY Knick games, and if you factor out defense, David Lee is having an All Star season. I think keeping him off the squad was a major injustice.

Prior to this season, I thought David Lee would be an outstanding 6th man coming off the bench as a Power Forward because of his outstanding rebounding and overall determination on the boards. But I felt his lack of offensive skills would prevent him from being an NBA starter on an elite team. Wow! Was I wrong.

First, he’s a walking “double double”, which means he’s incredibly consistent both offensively and on the boards. He’s 4th in the NBA in rebounding as he shows up every night to battle much taller, stronger guys. There are very few players who achieve a double double as often as him.

Second, he could always drive left or right, but he had no outside jumper. But that’s changed big time as David Lee developed a very consistent mid range jump shot which has surprisingly turned him into an offensive force.

Third, his offense has improved so much that he’s now one of their go to options when the Knicks need a big shot.

I can’t think of too many other players who have improved their game as much as David Lee has the past two years.

like i said before its not a injustice by the way they picked. they didnt pick any player off of a losing team, which is understandable. and as far as lee having no premiter game, i think they guy who made this post just wanted to get some responses

I think a lot of people knock Lee’s defense more than necessary considering he has to do everything where if he doesn’t play good defense it does not bother me. He will work on it. Also, he usually has to guard someone who is taller, longer, faster than him. I am not saying more athletic because I think David Lee is one of the more athletic players at his position. To be able to finish with both hands, drive to the basket with both hands, how many guys at 6’9″ or taller can do that??? Not too many.

his defense just isnt that good. its not real bad either but its not that good reguardless of his height. there have been a couple guys his height or even shorter who have played better defense on centers

Agreed. Though, for everything David Lee does his sub-par defense does not bother me like his perimeter game I think he will make adjustments in the off-season and become a better defender.
