Flameres15ParticipantOkay, so I was wondering what the smart people of Nbadraft.net would think of the Pistons pairing Andre Drummond with David Lee? Obviously there isn’t much to like about the Pistons roster, in terms of trading pieces, but what would it take to make it happen, and would it be a good fit?

cozmojimParticipantTo me Lee is a similar player to Monroe. Not a bad fit, but if you have both there’s a big redundancy and if you swap the two you have the same Josh Smith issue. The only way I could see it working is if Detroit could convince GS to take J Smoove back for Lee and move Monroe for some wing help. Not impossible, just not likely.

CodySLCParticipantThey would probably play well together, but i don’t see the point? I like the idea of keeping him paired up with Monroe better. The real problem with the Pistons is they have 2 pf’s and no small forward.

Flameres15ParticipantYeah you’re right. I was just wondering if there would be a fit. David Lee has a better midrange game than Monroe, so that would open up the floor. But yes I agree, they need a small forward. (Hopefully NOT Trevor Ariza, unless he plays like his contract years).

CodySLCParticipantI don’t think Ariza would be a horrible fit, if like you said he keeps up his production from last season. We all know sometimes after guys get paid, then their production falls off, but that’s not always the case. He’s a 3 and D guy who could space the floor and guard the other teams best perimeter player. But the main priority for the Pistons right now should be to find someone willing to take on Smith’s ridiculous contract which will give the team some financial freedom to improve at other positions.

TRC1991ParticipantI think this team needs to decide right now if they’re going to:
A) Let Monroe leave, and play Smith with Drummond up front
B) Re-Sign Monroe, find a taker for Josh Smith

DolanCareParticipantI love the idea of Lee playing with Drummond, but like others said, JSmith needs to be moved as well. A few weeks ago I sugguested a trade where the Pistons get Lee and Barnes, while the Warriors get JSmith, Monroe (sign and trade), Caldwell-Pope and Detroit’s 2016 1st rounder. The trade definitely works for Detroit, and the Warriors have frontcourt depth. Smith would play the 4, and Monroe could come off the bench or something.

Mr. HookShotParticipantWhy would Monroe go to a team to sit on the bench (again)? And Detroit gives away the two best players in the deal and a first rounder?

thunderjerkParticipantI like Lee because he’s a pretty good frontcourt passer, but he’s just so slow and a terrible defender
