I think he’ll be re-signed by New York. A lot of people say it’s the system, but he can play. I think he’s worth $10 million, but he probably won’t get that from the Knicks.

Yea 10 mil was what he was looking to get last year, and I dont think his agent is gonna back off of that amount for him this summer, especially since he made the all star team. I think hell be back with the Knicks too, unless they are able to lure Bosh to NY. Then its anybodys guess..maybe Miami?

He’ll ask for at least 10 per year more than likely.

I could see him going to the Heat with D.Wade. I think he would be a good fit there as a 3rd option player and lead rebounder. I’m not sold that Beasley is more than a 6th man and I think Lee is a good change-of-pace from him. He would be a good pick and pop/roll option for Wade too.

After Lebron, Wade and Bosh I think the Knicks have a good shot to land some big names.

I can see Lee resigning for 11mill per.

If Bosh wants to play with Wade he’s gone than the Knicks will probably go after Amare if he opts out.
Rather have Amare becaz at least he’s somewhat of a shot blocker but a max contract for him is giving up a lot.

Curious but how many teams have money to offer max contracts to other players.
I know the Knicks, Nets, Bulls, Heat do but who else? Clippers, Kings, Wizards

Ken, you are soooooooooooo right. Most of the owners are pretty stupid and that’s why they continue to pay mind boggling salaries for guys who don’t deserve it. Every year you watch teams trying every trick in the book to get rid of some monster salary for a guy who never turned them into a championship caliber team.

I remember how one NBA GM described a guy on his team who was getting paid more than the rest of the starting five combined. He said we were in 8th place without him and now we’re in 7th place with him. Is he really worth that kind of money?

doubt he resigns. only way that happens is if they sign him early which they wont do because they will be trying to et bigger free agents and the longer lee waits the less he will get somewhere else because other players will be getting the contract that would have been his

I wonder if teams are going to overvalue him because he is putting up big numbers on a bad team. This is still a guy who has never been on a team to win more than 33 games in a season. If I was a team and could get him for the kind of deal Paul Millsap received, I’d jump. If he can get a 5-year, $50 million offer then I don’t think anyone will regret letting him go elsewhere. If the Knicks and Lee can agree to a backloaded deal, I can see him staying in New York. I’m not saying it would be a good thing, but they seem to like him.

no need to worry he will get overvalued (might end up not being overvalued since he is a pretty good player). every year a player gets more then what they are worth. what i find funny is how can people get on him for putting up numbers on a bad team when curry and evans are doing the same thing. its like a double standard when people say “that guy probably isnt that good because hes doing it on a bad team”

The Thunder might just be a solid center away from really contending. I think they’ll go after Haywood pretty hard – he’s the type of seasoned, defensive-minded center this team needs. While Lee isn’t a true center, the Thunder have the size in the front court to compensate, and would immediately become the most talented team in the league, not just potential-wise.

yeah its gonna take more then haywood or another center for them to contend for a title. they arent on the level of a dallas denver or lakers. only time will get them to that level and time is something they have alot of. its gonna take more then one player to get them to elite status

I was really surprised that no one went after him last summer. The Knicks even said they wouldn’t match an offer of 10 mil. If a team like Oklahoma City or Memphis or even Portland had gone after him with a front loaded contract like Portland did with Millsap, the Knicks would have been hard pressed to match the offer. This summer, I think the Knicks stand a better chance of keeping him. David Lee likes New York and I think he will be willing to wait and see if they land a marque free agent. The Knicks can either resign Lee as a complimentary piece if they get a couple of elite players or he could be their fall back guy if they miss out on an elite post player.

With that said, I think Oklahoma City would be a great fit for David Lee. A young and already here team (lets throw out the up and coming right now), they will have roughly 10 million to spend this summer. They could use an upgrade at center over Krstic and Collison (Mullins is still years away from starting, if ever). A core of Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Green, Lee; I think they would be a top 4 team in the west next year (they might be anyway).

I also want to mention that I thought Memphis should have gone after him last summer and drafted Ricky Rubio with the second pick. I wouldn’t have traded for Zach Randolph either. I’ll admit Randolph has done much better than I could have imagined but they are still going to miss out on the playoffs, I don’t think they will be any closer next year, and he’ll be eating up 17 million in 2011. If Rubio had gone #2 I believe he would have come to the NBA. I watched him in the the Olympics vs Team USA and he was impressive. I think he would be doing better than Brandon Jennings (maybe not as good as Evans). Convincing him to play for Memphis may have been difficult but I think it was possible and it isn’t like Hasheem Thabeet is tearing it up. Then they could have tried trading Mike Conley for Travis Outlaw (Before Portland signed Andre Miller and this would reunite Conley and Oden). Outlaw could have been their sixth man and an insurance policy if Rudy Gay decided to leave plus they would have more cap space this summer (from not acquiring Randolph) that they could use to keep Gay. A team of Gasol, Lee, Gay, Mayo, Rubio with Outlaw off the bench… they would be younger and as good as they are this year.

I love the Thunder and I love each of these players, but this is just too much small ball. They need at least some size in the frontcourt. Any good defensive centre would be great + I hope they can draft someone good. A top 4 team next year is a lock if these things happen
