    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15494387/sacramento-kings-dave-joerger-agree-four-year-deal

Dave Joerger has quickly bounced back from being fired by Memphis.  The Kings and Joerger met the past couple days about the head coaching position.  His contract is believed to be  4yrs/16mil.  Joerger did a great job this year dealing with injuries which saw an NBA record 28 players suiting up for the Grizzlies.  I’m somewhat surprised that he didn’t meet with other teams before coming to an agreement with the Kings.

Whenever a coach takes over for the Kings the biggest question is whether or not they can get through to Demarcus Cousins.  The only one that did was Mike Malone and he was fired early in the 2014-15 season because the team was 11-13.  Even though they started 5-1 before Cousins missed games with illness.  For whatever it’s worth Joerger managed to get good play from Lance Stephenson after the trade deadline when Doc Rivers and Steve Clifford did not.

This is a coup for the Kings. Not many good coaches on the market. Walton is already coaching the Lakers and Vogel is all likelihood has the Kings at the very bottom of his list.

Joerger was best available and can coach the Kings if they decide to add more talent around Cousins or if they trade Cousins and blow it up. Great hire for the Kings. You don’t say that too often….

How long before he ends up on Cousins’ crap list?

Love Joerger. Terrific hire. We’ll see if the Kings can finally gain some traction because it feels like they’ve been stuck in a below average limbo for years now.

Joerger will make a good assistant for Cousins.

He did have a good plan to get ready for malcontent Cousins, he was surrouned by them in Memphis with Barnes, Randolph, Lance and others.

But, prediction, two months from now someone in Sacramento wants him fired as coach.  A few weeks later Cousins has a problem with him.  It has happened for every other coach the Kings had the last few years.

I would rather have Vlade coach a team than be the GM.  The owner has no idea.  I don’t think this coaching hire will change the Kings and make them a contender.  A playoff team would be a step up, but with Utah improving and Minnesota loaded with talent and an even better new coach, I don’t think the Kings get there.

Not sure the timing was good for the Kings.  In that part of California, as well as the rest of the NBA, Curry returning to the court for the Warriors overshadowed any news out of Sacramento.

Cousins loved Mike Malone. It’s not like he hates all coaches, they just happen to hire guys who try to straighten him out but eventually alienate him instead of trying to build a relationship

Great to see that Dave has got another job so quickly, he has worked with Z-Bo and Lance Stephenson so will have a good idea how to handle DMC. He will also tighten up the KIngs defence and help WCS develop, also being a bit of a defensive guru then he might be the sort of coach who Rondo would fancy playing under and will thus resign.
