TarHeelRavenParticipantJust annoucned. I don’t know that much about Blatt, just from what I read on espn.com that he coached in Isreal, Greece, Turkey and Russia. He coached the Russians to the bronze medal in 2012 in London and is the first Euroleague coach to coach in the NBA. I also read an article that said Lebron coming back to Cleveland is most likely not in the cards now with the hiring of Blatt. In my opinion, it was so slim that Lebron was going to come back to Cleveland that the Cavs went ahead and signed Blatt knowing that they just needed to move along with what they have which is probably a good idea. How will Blatt fit in in the NBA with the Cavs in you guys opinion? I think he should reach out to Kyrie imeediatley and get on the same page with his star PG. He has pieces to work with and the number one pick obviously, but it is definitely a step up from coaching in Europe and coaching in the NBA.

Lotto StudParticipantWhat type of tempo will he bring to the team and how will his coaching style intertwine with Irving’s style of play?

BA30ParticipantFrom the information I have his coaching style works well for Waiters and Irving because the base of his offense is the Princeton offense. Heavily guard oriented. In the 2 games I watched from this past year it was obvious that guard play is key. I also have heard that he adapts well in terms of pace etc. based on players he has and even the opposition. It is all about whether the players buy in. They didn’t with Mike Brown or Byron Scott.

McDunkinAll I know is he wont be a pushover.
I recall a moment from him coaching that Russian national team that had a great run at the Olympics.
Now I don’t remember who they were playing but im pretty sure that they had a small lead in the fourth. During a time out NBC decided to get a close up of the huddle. Former NBA player Victor Kryapa (maybe) was talking to a teammate at the same time Blatt was drawing up a play. Blatt then yelled at him about talking while he is and told him that he can stay on the bench and finish his talk as he sent a bench player to check in for him.

Lotto StudParticipantHopefully he becomes the trendsetter to open the flood gates for Hard-nosed Euro coaches transferring.

BA30ParticipantThis blog has a video of that exact incident McDunkin was referring to. I liked everything I read in this blog and assuming the players listen to him, he has the Coach Pop mentality like we saw with Danny Green in the playoffs. I think early success is a key for him.

McDunkinThanks man I tried to find a video of it. It was Schved and Monya talking and tat he time it was a close game that is why the scene stuck in my mind. Schved was making his name throughout the games and Monya was a key player for the Russian and Euroleague team pulled/embarrassed both like a young Pop in his prime. I honestly remember saying to my friend that I would love to see a coach try that to the star of most NBA teams.

BA30ParticipantWith a young team like the Cavs and Kyrie Irving or even Waiters to an extent, it might be exactly what they need. Neither Brown or Scott would ever come close to doing that.

JoeWolf1Just a side not from a KU fan. Blatt coached Sasha Kaun in the 2012 Olympic games, for Russia. The Cavs have the rights to Sasha Kaun. It may sound like a minimal move, but Kaun is a legit rim protector, and defensive center that has NBA ability. He’s huge, strong, mobile, and quite frankly is better than Tyler Zeller….might have some legs.

WITNESS2014ParticipantI liked Kahn when he was at Kansas. I had no clue the cavs had his rights either. I think he Would be a solid interior presence for the Cavs, he would be cheap too.

BA30ParticipantAlthough I completely agree that he is a better defender than Tyler Zeller, Kaun is really just a defender. A good rim protector with no offensive game other than what his teammates set up for him – lobs, dunks, pick and roll. Zeller is exteremely skilled offensively and made huge strides this past season even with his defense. Kaun is more like Asik and Zeller is closer to Tiago Splitter minus the supperior passing but with a jumper out to 17 feet. They compliment each other well so as a Cavs fan would I love to have him.
