I’ll root for him, but I doubt he is much more then a backup. He never really took over games with any consistency this last year. But if I’m drafting in the 20’s and I need some help at the point, I would love to take a fast defensive minded player like Colison who has as much experience coming in as anybody in this draft. I doubt he ever becomes a good shooter because of his ugly shooting form, but if he can consistently knock down enough shots to make the defenses respect him, then he could prove to be a steal.

I know you’re a huge UCLA fan, as am I. How can you say Darren is a bad shooter? he may shoot unconventionally over his head, but he was part of the 80-50-40 club last year and this year he just missed with 39.4% 3FG… He doesn’t even take that many lay-ups and still shoots 51%, how does that make him a poor shooter?

I will agree that he will be a great back-up, but also that he is only that- a great back-up. He is extremely effcient with the ball and will definitely be able to hang with 2nd units in the NBA. He tends to get exposed a lot by athletic guards, like DRose, but I think that with time and experience he’ll be a good defender.

You are taking my comment a little out of context. I never said he was a bad shooter, just that I doubt he ever becomes a good shooter by NBA standards. His percentages are impressive, but a little misleading imo. He missed a lot of open shots in big games. He looks like he is chucking up a medicine ball from the college 3, I don’t think that translates well to the NBA distance. I think he will keep defenses honest by knocking down shots when left open, but I don’t consider him to be a major shooting threat.

I like him and think he could be quality guard to but I dont see him as being better than Farmar and Farmar is a bkup and does not have starter potential to me even though he could star on some teams but not any of the good ones. The only good point guards lately out of UCLA are the ones that have potential but did not show how good they were in college which kinds of looks good for Holiday. Baron Davis left early and was athletic and he winds up doing pretty good in the league. Look at Westbrook. Then again look at Earl Watson who is a career bk up even though in the right situation he could have been a decent starter but not anybody in the top 15 though.

DC has been as unclutch as they come, I’ll agree with that. I still love that guy, 3 final fours in 3 years? 4 sweet 16 in 4? I also noticed that sometimes he’d just get on fire when the team was down like 15 and then get them back in the game… and then he’d miss his chance to seize the moment with a game winning shot or he’d commit a TO.

Yeah Darren was a great leader and had a lot of success, although they did’nt get to the sweet 16 last year. He was asked to do a little too much on a team that just did’nt have the talent of past years. I think some team will be very lucky to get him, but I don’t predict he will be anything too special. But a pg who can defend, push the ball, get in the lane and provide leadership and be a spark plug should be able to get some time for somebody. If the Kings don’t get a pg at #4, I think DC would be a great pick for them at 23.
