CavsFan07ParticipantHis agent was recently interviewed.. His quote concerning when he will come to play in the NBA:
"It’s very difficult to predict now. Dario’s ultimate dream is to be a NBA All-Star and he absolutely does not accept anything less than that. At this moment he believes that is better to stay in Europe for a season or two, to get a taste of the Euroleague, and then to enter the NBA when he has more experience. He believes that it will be a shortcut for making his dream. But he did not make a final decision about that, and I will not absolutely exclude that option as well. He just wants to make a proper step and be in a place where he will be able to develop and play." – Misko Raznatovic
He was also quoted as saying that he and Dario both want Dario to be a top 10 pick. In this draft he’s not going top 5, and teams picking around 9-10 are close to making the playoffs and typically don’t draft a player who will be in Europe a couple more years. His agent didn’t rule out the possibility of Dario eventually pulling his name from the draft, which is what I truly think will happen. If he doesn’t mind being picked in the teens or even later teens, then I think he’ll remain in the draft (unless, of course, he states he will for sure come over next season which could raise his stock).

vulture711ParticipantFor some reason the Spanish guy the Magic drafted years and years ago comes to mind where they spent a pick and the guy never came over here to play.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf the statement is true about wanting to be an NBA Allstar as the ultimate goal and definite purpose he will enter his name in the draft regardless of positioning. Seems like hebis jocking for position and using his agent to try and boost his stock which just wont work, these guys have thier assessment on the player his potential and immediate impact and longterm impact to the team.Thats all that matters. If his camp thinks he needs to conquer Euro basketball before coming here Im fine with that, but you get what you deserve and a team in the top 10 is not a good fit for him if those are his needs. He wouldnt know that because it seems he and his advisors dont quite understand the NBA and each teams current needs.
I see him as a top 10 talent but with the current situations he is presenting teams he is likely a top 20 pick.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantMaybe the bulls could use one of their picks on him?

TRC1991ParticipantIt’s tough to predict where he’ll go, just because of the whole Fran Vasquez situation, teams might draft more cautiously.

OhCanada-ParticipantSorry but -1 for anyone who considers Saric is an unsafe pick due to the Vasquez situation. Thats ridiculous. Theres probally 30 players in the league right now that are draft and stash success stories to some degree. I could easily point out two more recent successful draft and stashes with Rubio and Valanciunas. Tomic, Pekovic, Valanciunas, Rubio, Freeland, Splitter, De Colo, just off the top of my head. And Mirotic seems like he will be a success story as well.
These are independent events for two individuals that will have different results. I think Saric has good advisors around him as far as his development as a player goes and they think dominating an inferior league to the NBA is necassary before he plays here so he can gain the mentallity to be a confident elite player.

vulture711ParticipantI think there are of players abroad who simply more comfortable staying close to home, playing with their friends etc. You can have a good career outside the US as well. This guy has floated his name in/out of the draft for a couple years and I’d be leery of using a high pick on him

LA12ParticipantOne thing that bothers me is how insistent he is on being a top 10 pick and nothing else. Didn’t he pull his name out last year for the same exact reason? It just comes off as a little egotistic if you ask me.

King CaluchaParticipantWow.. I think Saric is pretty good. He’s a good ball handler for his size, but not good enough to run the point. However, he has great vision… he’s a great passer. I think he is what Kyle Anderson was supposed to be when UCLA tried him off the ball on his freshman season.
