OhCanada-ParticipantWell that’s annoying I was really excited to see him grow this year. Looked like he was starting to learn how to finish in traffic in SL. Quite honestly at this stage of his career it doesn’t make too much of a difference for the Jazz overall record. They are so deep that an injury to up and coming youngster won’t shouldn’t effect their record like when Parker went down last year.

BleedGreen808ParticipantSuch a shame if he did. He looked so confident against the Celtics in Summer League. I was looking forward to seeing the young Jazz core in action. It must be tough for NBA teams to let their players risk injury in the offseason to play for their national team. It sounds selfish but these organizations invest millions in these men to play for their teams. I think the Mavs kept Dirk from representing Germany for that reason.

natevalParticipantIf he did a good trade target for the Jazz would be Evan Turner as suggested by @KevinOConnorNBA

Stephen A. BaylessParticipantThis is a tough break for Utah if he did tear it. In the short-term there’s no damage as the Jazz may be better off with his minutes going to Burks/Burke and they’re still a contender to make the Playoffs.
The real damage is that Exum loses a year of development, and while he showed flashes last year he was still extremely raw. Hayward and Favors look like fringe All-Star type players right now and Gobert is already one of the best defensive anchors, but Exum potential and development represented a chance for them to really move up the Western Conference hierarchy and away from the 45-win range. Players rarely come off this type of injury better, so it would be year-4 before they could even really properly evaluate him.
Hopefully it ends up just a sprain or something and allows him to play this year. It does give Trey Burkes another chance to make a case for himself to be a part of Utah’s core going forward.

SkalAndJamalParticipantIt’s confirmed. What’s the point of predicting how great a player will be if this is just a common thing. Basketball is so lame when in the playoffs things like every team the Warriors played against had an injured starting PG.

llperezi felt warriors were best team in league going into playoffs as they proved all regular season. I dont think their ring is tarnished by injuries to other teams. besides, the clippers and spurs were both 100% and neither of them can say they came out of the west. Even with injuries, the west was still brutal.

SkalAndJamalParticipantEh disagree. Parker was 50%, Houston had Jason Terry guarding Steph because Pat Beverly was injured, Cavs couldn’t score without Kyrie, and of course the best player in the west was injured for the majority of the season and his team didn’t make the playoffs(Durant). So that’s pretty lucky break. But with the bad luck they’ve had the past 40 years makes sense this would balance that out. If you want to see a real Wild West, look at 2004 playoffs.

holefillers1ParticipantHe is still really young. I hope he fully recovers. Love his speed with the ball. He is not a two foot jumper like Rose so his overall athleticism should be retained. Real shame though.

Jr. ROXASParticipantI hope it turns out like Demarre Carroll’s, where it looked surely like an ACL but turned out to be a knee sprain.

mgreener_34ParticipantHorrible news, for the Jazz and basketball. Exum has always been a mystery man, but now it seems like we’ll never truely see what he could have become. He relies on his athleticism so much that this is surely going to have a negative effect on his game. Reminds me of when Rondo tore his ACL a few years ago and was never the same because he didn’t have his speed, quickness, or lateral movement.
Jazz need to bite the bullet and trade for a starting PG. I think Mo Williams would have been a nice signing, but he’s off the market now. If I was the Jazz I would look to see if they could package their pick and maybe one of Lyles/Burks/Hood and see what they can get. IF a guy like Darren Collison, Dennis Shroader, or Brandon Jennings is available than they should look into trading for one of those guys.
If not, isn’t Norris Cole still a FA? He would be a nice scrappy PG who would fit in like a glove in UTA. Hayward was practically the Jazz’s main offensive ignitiator last year, so I expect that to stay the same this year. Getting him a little help though wouldn’t hurt.

MopgrassParticipantI doubt they can get Schroeder, but Collison might be possible. Actually, they’d play better with Collison than Exum this year. Then in a few years, Exum will blow him away. Not sure what they’d have to pay for Collison.

Rip255I’m not suprised the injury rate in the NBA is so high. These guys play around 100 games a year.
I don’t think there’s any sport in the world that plays so many matches. Baseball…but that is non-contact.
Of course the NBA is riddled with injuries. Tough break for Exum…just a freak accident.

JR RyderParticipantI wish him a speedy recovery if it is indeed serious.
But to be honest, he didnt show me any skills that would suggest he could be a good starting PG. Yes he has great size for a PG, with good athletecism and speed, but as far as creating for others he struggled mightly last season, and didnt do well to create offense for himself either. Before this injury, I was already ready to label him as the most likely to bust in his draft class.
