ItsVictorOladipoParticipantComing out party for Voodoo tonight. Yes it was against Brooklyn but still 39 points, 8 for 12 from 3 point range and just three turnovers is pretty impressive for a rookie!

daggers818ParticipantGreat to see. He played really well tonight and has been for the past few games, and he’s really taking care of the ball too. His scoring output was the most by a Laker rookie (in the regular season) since Elgin Baylor in 1959, I think. Given the Laker history, that’s fairly impressive.
There were a ton of naysayers early on in the season (T-Rex?), but DLo has shown great progression over the course of the season and looks like a bonafide breakout player as he moves forward in his career.
Additionally, Randle, has been averaging almost 13ppg and 11.6 rpg since he got back in the starting lineup, and he’s essentially a rookie too. Clarkson’s shooting in Feb was lights out, 50% FG/46% on 3’s.
These guys obviosuly need to gain defensive improvement, but that could come with additonal experience and strength training. Offensively, I think the future looks bright. A good offseason in the FA market and a hopeful top 3 pick should put the Lakers back into a competitive position.
The only downside tonight was the win against Brooklyn. I don’t think it really hurt the Lakers draft chances, but let’s not get crazy and start winning some games now to end the season when they’ve orchestrated the tank so beautifully all year!

MopgrassParticipantI think the Lakers will approach the offseason the way they approached last season: try sign one of the top 2 or 3 free agents and if they can’t, they’ll stay put. Last year they whiffed on Aldridge, etc., they didn’t try too hard to improve in free agency after that, so they went into tank-mode. This year they’ll try for Durant, Barnes, DeRozan, but if they don’t get them, it might be one more year of tanking.
The Lakers shouldn’t clog up their lineup with veterans anyway because they need Russell, Clarkson, and Randle to start and develop. Also, they still have draft pick considerations. They owe Philly and Orlando 1st draft picks… probably. If the Lakers keep the pick this year 2015-2016, it’s top 3 protected for 2016-2017, and unprotected in 2017-2018. Orlando gets the Lakers pick 2 years after the Sixers do. However, if the Lakers don’t give a pick to the Sixers pick until 2017-2018, the Magic get two 2nd round picks INSTEAD.
Essentially, if they tank for one more year they can let their young guys develop, keep a top 1-3 draft pick next year two, and only end up giving away one 1st round pick instead of two. It might be good enough reason to tank one last time… unless their fans kill them.

CasualCeltPretty impressive stuff. Randle and DLo don’t have much defensive upside at all, but scoring guard and scoring and rebounding PF are valid starting roles.

Hype Machineyo T-rex let me know if you’re keen on some original audio for ur next hype-up prospect video.
I’ve been in the studio making some new beats and I’m impressed by your view count lol
I’ve got one I been working which is perfect for Stephen A. Smith stabs in between highlights.
Plus if it goes viral…no copyright infringements!

llperezloving what I see. his skill is really advanced. I mean he isn’t a great athlete, but so far nobody has been able to really get up and pressure to make him look bad because his handle is so nice. Big hands with long arms and just has the ball on a yoyo string. He will beneifit a ton from kobe retiring and allowing him to be more ball dominant. He keeps getting better which always what you want from rookies. Expect a big year from him next season.

markfitz14ParticipantIt takes a little longer for PG top adjust. Just have more responsibility trying to set others up. He has shown he can improve his game. He is making good progress.

HitsterParticipantThe Lakers would be gambling on keeping their picks essentially on the draft lottery. If they did lose their pick this year and couldn’t land a top FA then 2016/17 becomes a clear tank season with the aim to get better in 2017/18 as the pick to Orlando would be going over then.
The Lakers will have had two very poor seasons in a row after this season so would the fans stand another year being down the lottery I wonder. The Lakers can build around Clarkson, Randle, Russell and they will always be an attractive FA market as they can almost hand the keys to the team to a top FA if they wanted.
Randle had a career game against the Nets and it will do his confidence good plus if they do get Luke Walton in as Head Coach then Luke knows exactly how GSW gets the best out of Steph Curry MVP and Klay Thompson so he’d be good for the development of Clarkson and Russell.
I’ll throw this scenario out there – Walton goes to the Lakers, Harrison Barnes is an RFA, linking up with Luke again would be attractive to Barnes.
