RUDEBOY_ParticipantFox Sports is reporting that Veteran center Eric Dampier has signed with the Houston Rockets..Dampier signed a 1 year deal for 2 million dollars….
Dampier will be added to the mix..The Rockets already have Yao Ming & Brad Miller..
I was expecting him to sign with The Suns who were also interested in signing him…There he could’ve gotten more playing time..

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantJermaine Taylor appears to be the odd man out to make room for him.

delfamParticipantSo now they have Yao,Miller,Hayes,Dampier,Scola,Jeffries,Hill, and Patterson all at PF/C
Hill and Patterson must be freaking out, their both 1st round picks in the last 2 years and neither of them are going to get playing time. Houston needs to trade some of these guys while they still have value cause their ruining these young guys careers playing the vets.

RUDEBOY_Participant^^ Agree…
But Even though Yao,Miller and Scola are all in their 30’s…No need to be in a hurry to send their young guys away..Dampier is on a 1 year deal.. Yao has been injury prone the past few years….

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHouston is probably thinking that there is no reason they can’t win the division and get a top three seed in the West. They need the depth up front to make sure that when they have to give Yao a night off they aren’t riding Hayes as their 6’6" center again. Yao and Brad Miller are a nice combo when they can both just play 24 minutes, but neither are really candidates for back-to-backs. Dampier gives them the third center they need. As for Patterson and Hill, I tend to think those two along with Jeffries, possibly Budinger, and maybe some Knicks might be pieces in a trade. Melo?

doubledribblerParticipantI’m not a Dampier fan, but I’m surprised Miami never picked him up. I’m sure they will have a great season, but I see no reason why Dampier would not be a useful piece to have. Sure he has hands of stone, but he can block shots and rebound some. That’s more than you can say about a lot of guys in the league. It’s also obvious that his goal right now is winning because if he just wanted to start there would have been a decent amount of teams for him to get that opportunity with, especially with him coming at such a cheap price.
He’s a nice pickup for Houston. He will help keep Miller and Yao’s minutes down and provide insurance if either goes down. I think Houston has a lot of depth overall. Normally that is a bad thing, but they have guys that all seem to buy into the team mentality. I think best case they may eventually trade a few guys for an upgrade at a position. Worst case they have a bunch of young guys on cheap contracts. I think Patrick Patterson is going to be excellent for them next year once he has the system down.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThe Teams I see making strong plays for Melo are …
New York…Curry ( Big Expiring Contract ) Chandler, Randolph and Picks( 2011 and 2013 )
Chicago…Deng ( Big Contract/Established Player ) Johnson and Picks ( 2011 and 2012 )
Portland…Oden ( Expiring Contract or future Center ) Babbit, Fernandez and Draft Picks ( They have 2 in 2011, one via New Orleans
Philadelphia…Iguadola ( Established Player ) Thad Young ( Young Player ), Kapono ( Cap Relief ) and Picks in 2011 or 2012…
LA Clippers…Kaman, Foye, Aminu and Picks in 2011
Houston…Jeffries( Cap relief ), Patterson ( Young Big ) Budinger ( young player ) and Picks in 2011 and 2012…
